"Genius" is a bit of a stretch... But I think it's fair to say that he tries his best!

I built one very similar! I bought it as a Ford Ranger truck/trailer conversion which tracks behind my Jeep well. I added interior lighting, the same Smittybuilt tent, Batwing awning, water heater with 26 gal tank, 100ah battery, 100W solar panel suitcase, marine stereo, and a diesel heater. Cape Lookout was also in mind when I built it!! We stayed at Oregon Inlet this past weekend. We love ours!!

Awesome i would love to see some pics! I have a full size 1/2 ton truck and I built the trailer to track behind a jeep or Tacoma size vehicle. That's the reason for the off road tracking issue especially in sand.

@@kellyjohnson2920 would you mind taking some pictures of your rig. I would love to see it. Looking for ideas to build one myself, over the next few years.

Do you know the total weight of the sand flea trailer fully loaded (water, food etc)? I have a camper trailer I pull with my Nissan Frontier 4x4 and am concerned about the weight in sand. Thanks.

Nice video. Most of what I have seen suggest most any stock 4WD Jeep or similar can make that trip. I personally wouldn't want all that stuff in my vehicle because I wouldn't want to drag it around all the time but I do like the trailer idea. Those ground tents are nice as well since I'm not a fan of the rooftop ones.

For those with 4th gen 4Runners from 2003-2007 the frames are rust prone and there was actually a recall for frame replacement. I would rinse, rinse, rinse

Some sweet set ups there, not to mention the epic sunsets 😍 Really cool your mate bought the Expedition Overland rig. Maybe one day we'll get Bear onto that beach 😉

Your setup would be amazing on the island... the only problem is you may never want to leave! Hope you guys are doing well and staying warm. I'm really looking forward to seeing your adventures in South Korea and that area of Asia!

That would be fun. Maybe you can show me around Uwharrie. I've still only camped out there... never done any of the tougher trails.

We are planning a trip there in October. I can not find ANY suggestions on the best area to camp. I'm assuming you all explored the whole island. Is there a particular area you recommend? IDK if I should go north, south, etc.

Do you all have a contact point for your overland group. I am in the process of building out a 2017 Silverado, just staring out. Hope to meet up with some like minded SC overland groups. Need to learn the ropes and places to go in NC, SC, Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky etc.

We aren't actually any kind of overlanding group.... these are just guys I'm good friends with from my church, and the group going out to Cape Lookout has grown slowly over time. I doubt many of them would even would even use the term "overlanding" :p I've never done any kind of ride along with an overlanding group... I just got out and explored some places myself and then started bringing my friends back to the coolest spots that I was finding.

Sounds like a nice group of friends.. perhaps the next time you plan to go to Cape Lookout, my wife and granddaughter could meet up with you all there. We were looking at Spring Brake, hopefully not to crowed then.. @@mountainstoseaoverland9855

Policy Memorandum 14-05, released by the National Park Service (NPS) director in June 2014, directed each superintendent to use the authority under 36 CFR 1.5 to prohibit the launching, landing, or operation of unmanned aircraft, subject to the certain conditions and exceptions set forth in the memo. This is still in force with a very few exceptions. This action applies to the launching, landing, and operation of unmanned aircraft on lands and waters administered by the NPS. Jurisdiction by the NPS ends at the park boundary. The policy memorandum does not modify any requirement imposed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on the use or operation of unmanned aircraft in the National Airspace System. Violation of the ban is a misdemeanor with the maximum penalty of six months in jail and a $5,000 fine.
