I think it's great , the new Earthroamer cost 1.5 and that I would not pay ( even if I had the money ) unless it had a woodburning stove inside and a log splitter outside along with a 360 degree awning awning and some more cool outdoor features like a projector , built in outside heat outside surround sound and an awesome outside kitchen of some sort. So this one is a good deal . It's a ready home on wheels. And if you want or need to go wear it can't because of it's size you can tow a jeep . If I owned one I would never stop adventuring !

Congratulations! I think this makes for a very interesting case study of doing what works for you! The whole adventure nature of being able to go - possibly to cross the borders, be in Canada or South America for a few months, changing the scenery, cost of living, etc. What I'd love later would be a year update, and subsequent, cost comparisons of what this actually costs you vs a similar ~ $500K house, mortgage, etc. given where you might've been based. Many look at the cost of this rig and wonder about upfront vs a house that's amortised, but it's never so simple. Being able to work remote jobs, maintaining a different lifestyle, and the adventures for your little one... that's priceless! Our family's on a slightly different path, but share some similarities. I however wanted some land, to do some things that we wouldn't be able to do if we were a bit more nomadic. Hopefully your travels are trouble free and memorable! =) Hello from Canada!

Not sure I understand the water/toilet situation. You have a massive 450liter fresh water, and a 150 liter grey water tank (no idea where the remaining 300 liter is supposed to disappear to) for maximum off grid independence of probably over a week. Contrast with the standard 17liter of a toilet cassette, which will last you about 3 days max... What is the use of dragging along all that water if you have to go empty your toilet at the designated area every 3 days? For that amount of money I would have expected an incinerating toilet, so that you could really be off grid for the time your water supply lasts.

There are some really nice ones out there right now, like the Pause Reboot, and other Australian-inspired rigs like the ones ROA Off-Road sells. Seems like one advantage of an off road camper would be the ability to choose the tow vehicle you want (and not one predetermined like the RAM in the video). Plus you can take the trailer wherever you want off the beaten path and leave it parked at a campsite if you want to take the truck into town or to some other location to explore. Just my two ¢

Could you do a video on the total cost of ownership for a rig like the Hilt? Insurance, maintenance, savings for tires and repairs, and monthly gas cost compared to mileage traveled. My wife and I are starting to devise a way to purchase something like the Hilt. If we can figure out how to pay for it, LOL.
@niebieskimotyl33082 ай бұрын
Vanlife just go to ridiculous point pricewise. The costs of maintenance, repairs and insurance is wild. If someone already have a house, passive income, fully funded retirement, 12 months emergency fund and good health, and can pay cash for it on top of that - go with it. But otherwise it's just overspending. I know I overspent on my little van, and I could live in so much nicer place now, if I didn't go for my 6 months van trip. I didn't calculate well, the food on the road, gas and repairs crushed my savings. I imagined I will travel full time with my kid, but turned out he needs stability the most, not fancy trips. We just go camping in tent nowadays and it's as much fun. Plus toilets and showers setup on the campsites, so no need to worry about anything really. Now I'm putting money on my home, so it appreciates in value, and my kid gets his own room.

Be careful of eating processed foods. I completely changed my diet due to health issues and I had people sending me articles about processed foods, etc. Most people don't know that big tobacco saw the writing on the wall so they took their huge stockpile of cash and bought food companies like Nabisco and Kraft among others. They took their scientists who are experts at making stuff addictive and tweaked all their products with unhealthy stuff and then bought stock in the pharmaceutical companies. Create the disease and then peddle the drugs to treat. Most people don't know that not only is high fructose corn syrup really bad for you in that it causes fatty liver, makes food more addictive but it's also full of mercury due to the way that it's processed. Most of the junk that they allow in our food in America is outlawed in Europe. It's criminal. Our poisons are slowly spreading across the world though. Obesity is becoming rampant in many European nations now as well.
