Living in Australia we are spoiled for choice with some excellent Pinot coming out of Mornington Peninsula, Tasmania, Geelong. Producers like Tolpuddle & By Farr make world class wines that sit alongside great Burgundy in terms of quality for a fraction of the price. Also Central Otago is delicious; producers like Valli & Felton Road.

Everyone's has already mentioned Germany, though by now it's no longer super exotic or geeky anymore. South African cool climate PNs have impressed me, though I have only had few. I would love to try some from Patagonia, as they sound pretty awesome. So far I have avoided Hungarian PN, but I should try it. Alto Adige sounds like the right terroir/climate to make great Pinot Nero. Yarden ., Golan Heights who would have thought? Interesting video, but Napa/Carneos PN isn't for me. I think Sonoma Coaster or St. Rita Hills sounds more like the style I would be interested to try. As well the FLX.

Chile is too cold in Patagonia to grow wine reliably without frost issues. The wine regions in Chile stop in Bio Bio region above the Patagonia border into Los Rios region. Argentina however is a totally different story, some of the greatest Pinot Noir grown in the new world is starting to come out of Rio Negro and Chubut Province, and in Chubut you can find some vineyards at higher elevations than we’ve ever seen Pinot Noir or Riesling grown anywhere else in the world. The soils of Chubut are literally perfect for quality cool weather wines
@narrowistheway77
@narrowistheway77 Жыл бұрын
@@aaronchan2942 there’s actually multiple recognized wine regions in Chubut Province Argentina, 8 recognized regions thus far and too many growers to name offhand. So it’s far more than one producer there, they’re only just now starting to be taken seriously though because people finally recognize that they’re doing something special and getting extremely consistent quality growing seasons year after year 😉

@@drmatthewhorkey Rio Negro Province also has some great Pinot, but Chubut Province is better, they’re a little cooler throughout the season. I’m not sure if the Calera clone has its origin in Sonoma. It was supposedly smuggled into the US from a site in Burgundy by Josh Jensen for his Calera vineyard near Hollister, though he claimed they were not smuggled in but rather were cuttings from nearby Chalone. We shall never know :) RIP.
