The humor author, Patrick F. McManus, suggested replacing the dinky drain plug with something closer in size to a manhole cover. Doing this eliminates the mystery of the small drain allowing the boat to flood slowly over time. The larger plug actually activates your memory cells especially after the second or third time you forget to install it.

Hands down, over the years I've found the BEST time to reel in steady catfish is after a hard rain following a dry spell. Say you get no rain for 7 days in the hot summer, then a huge down pour? Get out and fish. The rain washing nutrients from the shore into the lake totally gets them feeding. It generally has to be a pretty good rain. Enough to get the creeks flowing into the lake flowing heavy. The secret is, WHILE its hot and dry and not raining, you have to be vigilant, poles ready, watching the weather so when the big rain comes, you are on it.

any tips for finding good spots at lakes fishing from the bank? can only seem to find spots with smaller bullheads
@hagengrubbsfishing2 жыл бұрын
If the lake has navionics it can be a huge help on reading the bottom contours from the bank. There is a free app you can get on your smartphone. If the lake has a thermocline in the summer then I would suggest fishing shallow areas or fishing under a float above the thermocline. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask. Hey Hagen you and Landon should come and fish Bink Fox's cancer Bennett tournament on April 16. It's for cancer research and the money will go to families that have a hard time getting to appointments, needing gas money and motels so they can get their family back and forth to treatment. Also help with groceries or whatever they may need. There's already 51 boats registered and alot of big names are gonna be there.

Thanks guys great job again 👍 someday I hope I can make it happen for my daughter... question if you don't mind?? I see your hooks DO NOT have a bend at the eyelet.. all I can find in my area has a bend right at the eye .. Is that bad or have you found that to be less of a hook up percentage than the straight ones ??? Stay safe GOD bless 🙏👍
@hagengrubbsfishing2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words, as far as the hooks I prefer the straight shank/non octopus circle hooks simply because I believe the snell knot is more effective with a straight eye. But I think it’s mostly just a preference/confidence thing. I have friends that fish with octopus circle’s and they don’t have any problems. Thank you very much for watching and good luck out on the water👍
