I’ve really enjoyed this one too. So simple to set up and play but has some surprisingly crunchy decisions. I bought this with no foreknowledge apart from the fact I enjoy the publishers two player line of games. I’m glad I did. Highly recommended from me. Good review, Zee. Thanks.

Very eager to try this one out! Seems like a condensed version that combines some of the mechanisms of Blue Lagoon and Kingdom Builder. Those are two of my favorites. Thanks Zee, for putting this game on my radar. Excellent review!

Have you tried this yet? Curious how it compares to blue lagoon.

Yes, I played Great Plains. I rate it a 7 and Blue Lagoon is an 8 for me. Great Plains has the same tug of war and quick punchy, snappy game play compared to Blue Lagoon. I find Blue Lagoon thinkier, because you have to keep your eyes on more goals. Great Plains is shorter and easier. Complexity wise Great Plains compares to Kingdomino, Jaipur, Karuba. It is very light. It is a sweet little game that is pretty and smart. I usually play best out of three because it is so short.

Have this game was a no brainer buy. These are the games I wait to get. I feel like this game dropped out of nowhere too. I’ve had games result in very close to ties which I’d rather have more swing too. Just saying. The part that intrigues me about this game the most is that you can modify the setup to have large lowland spaces thereby creating interesting fights for dominance thereby altering gameplay strategies and such. This game is basically the condensed version of renature for people who bashed renature which is this game on steroids. So this gets an 8.5 because it plays in 20. Vs the low score given to the other game which had better components 🤔 and a little luck 🍀 even though there is no luck i feel like you can trade wins back and forth on this game even with pure skill. Good game happy I picked it up. Good review👍

Great game! The area control really shines in this one and makes you feel like you're playing a Knizia or Inis without the added complexity of those.

Do you know Cairn by Inis' designer Christian Martinez? Also an excellent 2p game.

@@PhasinG37 I'm glad you like Cairn. Got Great Plains this week and so far played one Best of 3 series. It's really cool and I'm looking forward to dive deeper into its intricacies.

Wonder if this is comparable to Paris: Cité de la Lumière at all. Also a 2-player area control game, to which Zee gave an 8 two years ago.

Well done for another clear and tight video, Zee. This game sounds a bit like a streamlined version of Ekö. I might check it out, your enthousiasm really makes me curious.

This game really feels a lot like a mini two-player Kingdom Builder to me. Love it!

The mechanisms and gameplay (with animal abilities + area control) sound a lot like Nanga Parbat, but Zee didn't like that one. It would be interesting to see what made the difference between those two games

how does this compare to Blue Lagoon?

looks nice, might be fun to play, but it seems there nothing innovative or original to the game, no new ideas, not even an interesting twist on established mechanics. So maybe originality/innovation is missing as category in Zee's final scoring list. Nonetheless great review, you really get a good impression of the game.
