Ben is certainly the best chess lecturer on the planet. No one else has his ability to take grandmaster level ideas and explain them simply to lower rated players.

Game against Shakh is absolutely brutal, applying pressure and sacrificing material for an attack against one of the best players in the world. No fear, just pure skill.

Not just Ne7, he had to see that 3 moves ago when he played Nh3 -> g6 -> e7. To even get that idea when your knight is on f3 is crazy

That first interference and the last game was Brutal with a capital B. Romantic chess is back. Just mixed with the solid to go with it

38:00 rd1 wasn't a computer move! That was a Morphy move, the old younger Finegold would have said.

Did any extraordinary past GM before engines play an unusual number of "computer" moves (e.g. Fischer, Kasparov, Tal, etc.)? I recall in your Fischer lecture, you'd show a crazy sacrifice or something and say, "This is the #1 engine move". Not sure if that was a case of Fischer playing an engine move or the engine playing a GM move.

Credo ? What he meant by Yasser sirawan credo
@LukePettit
@LukePettit 2 жыл бұрын
Credo / Creed is a strong belief or a principle. Ben has many: Never play f6; always play Bf1; always retreat etc. Yasser's credo is: If you are losing you might as well be up material Credo isn't a chess only word though. Anyone can have a credo about anything. YOU probably have a credo. However the word is usually only used when talking about someone else's strong beliefs.

In first position the commentary went 1. Nh4 Bd6 2.Ng6 hxg6 3. hxg6 Qc7 4. Qh5 Be5 5 Qh7+ Kf8 6 Qh8+ Ke7 7. Qxg7 + Kd6 8 Qxc7?? + Kxc7 9 dxe5 “ I guess this rook ending is winning for white because of all the extra pawns” why not 8 dxe5 + winning the queen?

All I can say is I m glad Tal's way of playing is coming back reinforced by computer tech. Good future for chess. If you use the computer all time to practice you should be picking up. By the way, I do thing it s not easy and few people can do it but if you go by what you are teaching namely, check all checks, captures and threats, it should not be impossible for a very talented player to see those moves.
