Excellent viewing. I boat fish the Northumberland coastline but haven't ever tried the chebs out. Often just fish a light spinning rod and sidewinder/fiiishcrazy type Sandeel. Will give them a go !

Well, that was an incredible video to watch. Those codling were very lovely and lively too. Really do like the way you appreciate and respect the fish you catch..even if they do poo on you! But to have dolphins around you...wow! Still waiting for the seas and wind to die down here but your videos are keeping us going. Many thanks, Kev

I’m glad you enjoyed it Kevin, it was a cracking day. You don’t really get a sense of the true colours of the fish on camera, some of them were a real deep orange red. Of course the the dolphins are always the icing on the cake when they show up. I love them! 👍🎣

Another great video :) Got to love the dolphins! What weight do you think that biggest one was? I'm from the North East as well and have just got a new kayak. Where would you recommend to try? Somewhere with a nice easy launch site! Thanks for any help in advance.
@onthedropfishing Жыл бұрын
I don’t know, it’s a dangerous game estimating weights on the internet 🤣. Both the bigger fish were north of 6lb. The darker one actually looked the biggest in the flesh. Beadnell is a super easy launch but maybe don’t go on a big tide your first few times as the current of the point can be quite strong 👍🎣

Hi Chris. Newby here, Any chance of an equipment list. Dry suit, boots. Rod reel. Fishfinder. Ps how long will the battery last in the motor. Hope you don’t mind me asking Regards Karl
@onthedropfishing Жыл бұрын
Hi Karl mate, full set up list is in the description. The only thing that might not be in there is the Typhoon ps330 Extreme Drysuit and the Palm Gradient Kayak Boots. I use an Ultramax 100ah LiFePO4 battery which lasts me two or three trips between charges. Welcome to the sport! 👍🎣

what rod you using notice more and more using lighter set up i always used a 20lb uglystick boat
@onthedropfishing Жыл бұрын
Hi mate it’s a 7’4 inch 40g Dam SW spin rod in this vid- I think that would translate to about 10/12lb class. I use 0.13mm braid and I think that’s key for me with the lighter lures 👍🎣

Hi Chris What Motor do you run on your Kayak please ? Great Video mate
@onthedropfishing Жыл бұрын
It’s the slot in motor from Galaxy, specifically made for the Sturgeon. It’s 24lb thrust and it’s been great. 👍🎣
@UELOFFICIAL9 Жыл бұрын
Chris, I bought some of the lures you suggested, so do you just bounce the lure off the bottom (lift) and then repeat? I’m new to this type of fishing and felt I had lots of slack and wasn’t sure if t oh reeled in whilst jigging?
@onthedropfishing Жыл бұрын
Hi mate, let your lure hit the bottom, take up any slack then lift it and wind one turn. Then start jigging. Every minute or so let line out until you hit bottom again then repeat as above. If you’re fishing for pollack you can hit bottom. Wind up slowly six or seven turns then let it back to the bottom again. It is essential that you use light braid for this kind of fishing otherwise your lure will kite out in the tide and you feel nothing. The downward part of the jig shouldn’t be too fast and wait until you feel the weight of the lure before the upward stroke. I’m gonna say light braid again because it’s really that important! Hope that helps mate 👍🎣

Hi mate, happy new sib! It varies from venue to venue really but between 10 and 20 metres is a good rule of thumb. I haven’t been up as far as Buckie yet but it’s definitely on my list! Tight lines mate 👍🎣

Hi mate, I must’ve dropped off your algorithm! I’ve uploaded every week for months! Only one way to fix that….subscribe! 🤣🤣. This is my Sturgeon I’ve had it for 2 n bit years. I’ve been using the motor since September last year and I think it’s great! Galaxy do a two person flipper drive I think, Don’t forget the channel discount code OTD5. Tight lines mate 👍🎣
@riekszevering1600 Жыл бұрын
just subscribed, love your way of fishing and your catch and release. One little point though: is there any reason you don't fish barbless? These fish don't jump so you would hardly lose any. And if you occasionally do, who cares, just catch another...?
@onthedropfishing Жыл бұрын
I often crush the barbs but it’s nearly impossible to get true barbless wide off sets on 6/0 for a weedless set up. Quality ones anyway. I do fish barbless for all of my fly fishing though. Thanks for the sub mate it’s much appreciated 👍🎣
