Join us for day 2 of our summer 2022 mega road trip where we drive from Georgia to Tennessee through the Great Smoky Mountain National Park with gorgeous views, beautiful spots in mountain towns and to see the highest point in the Great Smoky Mountains, Clingmans Dome, and driving through curvy mountain roads in the clouds and more! Stops along the way include Dillsboro North Carolina mountain town to see the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad train and the Old Dillsboro Shops on Front Street, lined with charming main street architecture, beautiful crafts shops and bistros, followed by a stop at the Oconaluftee visitor center in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to explore the Mountain Farm Museum, an outdoor recreation of an early 1900 mountain farm estate, super cool (and of course we did some shopping to support the national park)! We then trekked through winding mountain roads to visit the beautiful and terrifying Clingmans Dome, high in the clouds! We saw and officially got to step onto the Appalachian Trail on the way up to the observation tower. At 6,643 feet, Clingmans Dome is the highest point in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It is the highest point in Tennessee, and the third highest mountain east of the Mississippi. The observation tower on the summit of Clingmans Dome offers spectacular 360° views of the Smokies and beyond for visitors willing to climb the steep half-mile walk to the tower at the top. On the way to Gatlinburg, we drive through really cool mountain tunnels and get some more scenic overlooks! Hope you enjoyed the adventures on day 2 of our mega summer 2022 road trip! See you soon for the next one!
Welcome to Super Enthused! My name is Jackie and I bring you along as we visit fun and unique travel destinations, theme parks and attractions, road trips, resort tours and so much more. I hope you enjoy the videos, thanks for being here! ❤️

It’s kind of tradition to honk your horn through the tunnels in the Smoky Mountains. My family usually lays down the horn through the entire tunnel 😆

The other tradition is to make a wish but you can't say it out loud and then you hold your breath the whole way through the tunnel and your wish will come true. So instead of wishing on a star, wish upon a tunnel!

The “small horse” at the mountain farm museum, was actually a mule (the result of breeding a horse & donkey).. You don’t see them that often anymore. Mules were desirable livestock because they take on the favorable characteristics of both the horse & donkey. But an interesting fact is that a mule is sterile, so they cannot reproduce. And I believe the people lined up on the side of the road were looking at the elk. My family and I used to visit the Smokies a lot, and we would see the elk along the way 🤗. Love your vlogs! You and Sam are so fun to watch and learn from. Thank you! 😃

Smoky Mountains are a site to see. Tennessee people have a tradition to honk the car horn in tunnels. It started out as a warning for other cars when the tunnels were only able to fit one car at a time, but now we honk to ward off evil spirits and remember those who have died in them. Glad y'all got to experience it all. Hope y'all continue having good journey. Be Safe Take Care ♥ 🙏

I've been going to Gatlinburg TN every since I was little. As an adult, we have started taking our kids on yearly trips there. As for the honking the horn in the mountain tunnels, it's tradition. Alot of people do it, including us. They've been doing it for years. Love your road trip videos! ❤

I think it's a tradition to honk in tunnels. 4-wheelers will do it if there is a 1-lane tunnel. This is the most amazing vlog! I am living vicariously through you as I don't plan on visiting any part of the country that has humidity in the near future. Please come to the national parks in Colorado! You both would love them. Rocky Mountain National Park will blow your mind.

Thanks for going to Clingmans Dome. It's probably been 20 years since I've been up there. I really need to take my grandson after seeing this. When I was 5 years old, the Clingman's Dome tower had a lot of icy patches. I remember my older brothers running and sliding down the walkway. What I remember is that it was the coldest I've ever been. Still to this day I can say it was the coldest I'd ever been. My little cloth gloves did not help me at all. It's certainly different up there compared to the valley. You were definitely in the Smoky mountains! By the way, there have been numerous incidents where Bears have broken into cars in the parking lot. Never leave food in your car in the mountains. When we go, I always make sure that, if we stop and get a bag of chips or something, we throw them away before we park I don't want any food whatsoever in our cars to entice a bear to break in. There's actually a lot of that that goes on in Gatlinburg also at some of the hotels and parking lots. I guess people told you that it's a tradition to honk in tunnels. My dad helped build the chimney tops picnic area. You passed it on the way to Gatlinburg. I wish you had stopped at that Monument at Newfound gap. That's where the president dedicated the park in 1943? Someone correct my year.

Honking is just a mountain thing. My dad always did it on our trips and I have followed in this tradition, it is fun. Since we live about three hours from the mountains is has always been our vacation go to place. Last time I was at Clingmans Dome I was little and a skunk was in the parking lot. Everyone wanted to see it because it was so cute and all I remember is my parents scream "Vicki don't get close to it" again and again. There is so much to see and do in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge so glad you have made it back. When you leave you should go back through Cherokee and see the bears, Indians and Casino. I so loving these road trips. Thank you!!!

Clingmans Dome! Last summer my best friend and I drove through that area on a road trip. The walk up wasn't too bad, though certainly not exactly easy due to its steepness. When we got to the tower we made a short attempt to run up the spiral walkway to the top at which point some people jokingly told us to stop showing off. We were lucky to have a sunny and clear day and had an amazing view.
