I grew up in Gatlinburg and went to high school there during the late 1960’s. Such a wonderland of natural beauty. Me and several buddies hiked to Mt. LeConte during the fall on numerous occasions. We would work at the lodge on Saturday and Sunday, washing dishes, making up rooms, etc. for our lodging and meals. Just to be in the natural beauty made it worth the strenuous hike. I’ll never forget the sunrise over the cliff tops. I also took folks on horseback up to the lodge as a mountain guide during high school. One day we got a late start for a round trip and it was pitch dark about halfway back to the barn. I simply gave my horse his head and he got us home. I’m very familiar with all these spots mentioned and recommend you go visit if you can. Much different nowadays with tones of commercial development in Gatlinburg which for me ruins it but I understand, it’s the tourist business.

The river and falls were a bit slim at that time of year. You’ll have to try to come back in the spring time. After the snow melts from the peaks, and with all the rain we get in the spring, the falls are gushing that time of year. They’re really impressive. Plus you get the added bonus of seeing the wildflowers.

Truly beautiful video. My family and I really enjoyed a trip to the park and the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area this past July.

We were down in GSMNP this past April. Stayed in a cabin in Pigeon Forge and loved it. Clingmans Dome was amazing. You brought up a great point.... only .5 miles on the trail but it is a very steep incline. The view up there is breath taking. We also loved the south entrance to the park near Cherokee.

I am always amazed at the amount of water that continues to cascade off of the mountains, down the falls and to the creeks and rivers. I agree that the Rocky Fork Nature Trail is the very best next to Cades Cove.

So many beautiful creeks and rivers there, couldn't get over it! We are heading back in the fall!
