A polka from Finland, followed by three reels, first one from piper Séamus Ennis, second from fiddle player Gerry O'Connor, and the third is "The Ivy Leaf". From a concert by The Boys of the Lough.
Cathal McConnell, from Ballinaleck, Co. Fermanagh (whistle).
Christy O'Leary, from Kenmare, Co.Kerry (whistle).
John Coakley, from Bantry, Co.Cork (piano).

I met Cathal in a bar in Edinburgh some years back. Lovely man.

A fine tin whistle selection here. These reels seem impossible to play, but they make it sound so easy.

Rupertbear27, are you talking about how Cathal looks in this clip? It has to be from 25 years ago, I'm guessing - O'Leary and Coakley were part of the Boys of the Lough in 1985, I believe.

Cathal McConnell is canny at the best of times---I tell a lie--He is a brilliant flute and whistle player---and he still looks the same as he did 40 years ago

I read about Gerry O'Connor being a fiddler and have heard of him as a tenor banjo player.

Two different people. As a result, they are often referred to as Gerry 'banjo' O'Connor and Gerry 'fiddle' O'Connor

Are both D tin whistles? I'll try to learn «the Ivy Leaf» reel by watching this video but it's gonna be almost impossible I guess...there's no tutorial for this reel and I like it very much

Maybe stupid questions, but is there a sheet music for this duet arrangement and what tin whistles are they playing? I would be very happy about a response!

Tim, I had the pleasure of meeting and playing with Cathal years ago...and found he does not read sheet music at all :) He told me "I always play from the heart" which made me an even bigger fan!
