G.W.R's all new Electric-Diesel class 800/802's with automatic coupling systems, nice view of a lovely G.W.R class 43/125 in the other platform

Do Prefer the Class 43's myself, but at some stage they have to be replaced like most things these day's.

Love the clamshell door opening and retraction, ready for the `Dellner coupling' (I think that's what they are?) To be used, however, not so sure about the guide on the platform. No distance indications whatsoever, just a nod of the head or a thumbs up! Is it really that simple nowadays??
@BensPlanesTrainsProductions3 жыл бұрын
I think they prefer someone to make sure its all coupled up fine and connection is made. Not 100% sure what the procedure is to be honest.
@Bladebars2 жыл бұрын
@@BensPlanesTrainsProductions when the couplers come together mechanically there is a position indicator (part of the manual uncoupling handle) that will show if it is fully coupled. There is also a valve that will block the pneumatic signal to allow the electrical coupler to extend if not coupled. Finally the driver should perform a pull away test.

Do these units still need a pull-away test? Or did I miss it?
@BensPlanesTrainsProductions3 жыл бұрын
I think they still do the test to make sure the connection is successful to be on the safe side.

These are the worst high speed trains in the world
@BensPlanesTrainsProductions3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say they are the worse. Probably the worst is the 220's & 221's as they are not able to tackle sea conditions such as Dawlish.

Bloody awful trains. When did GWR discover that these abortions have to split/join at Plymouth, because the 10 car units couldn't fit properly into any station in Cornwall except Penzance. They should make everyone joining at Plymouth sit crammed into the first five units and leave we longer distance passengers from Cornwall some more space. Damned annoying.
@BensPlanesTrainsProductions4 жыл бұрын
Yes it is annoying, understand where your coming from. A lot Platforms here in Cornwall won't be extended with viaducts and bridges that limits them to extend them. But yes I do prefer the 9 cars instead of 5+5 to form 10 coaches.
