Great Western Railway Trains at Newbury on January 15th 2022

1st spotting video in 2022, 1st time back on the train for 7 weeks and also my 1st visit to Newbury on the Berks & Hants Line
Featuring services from Great Western Railway including ex c2c Class 387s, Turbos, IETs, One lone freighter and especially GWML Diverts
On the day of filming due to engineering works between Didcot Parkway and Swindon meant all services to Swansea were diverted via Newbury and rejoining the GWML before Bath Spa and then reverse at Bristol Temple Meads and then again at Bristol Parkway before rejoining the South Wales Main Line from there
Also due to train crew self isolating meant that Great Western Railway were running on a temporary timetable

I wonder if the class 800 series could change from diesel to electric whilst moving when not stopping at newbury

Yep they do but sometimes if it’s on the move it’s not until after it passes Newbury which is just before it passes Newbury Racecourse

@@louscr8249 the 800/802s are all electric, when in "diesel mode" it's just using diesel engines as generators to provide the electrical power instead of overhead wires.
