The last time i saw a Beyer-Garratt it was a sad derelict sight. I come from an old railway family and it is a delight to see one of these beautiful machines alive and breathing again.

as a young guy , i was a fitter at nsw railways, i worked on garratts for many years. a great loco mainly for great power & great axel loading. i cant understand why a restored unit is FILMED with a very bad leaking rod seal throughout the vidio on l/h rear cyl . it has a tapered babbit metal adustable friction seal to prevent leakage!!!--- does nobody know how to fix this problem??--- love your vidio😀-- just saying---as a steam train lover im very suprised this VIDIO did not get heaps more likes & subs, especially overseas in places like u.s.a. where steam has an amazing following!! please keep up the good work.

What is right behind the steam locomotive? Is that an extra water tender?

For the most part there is longer working standpipes at regular locations along the mainline tracks anymore. As such, heritage steam locos operating on the mainline have to haul extra water with them. In some instances they are often also provided with an additional water top-up at their destination, courtesy of the local volunteer fire brigade and one of their tanker trucks.
