I go camping a lot with my uncle and anti at the same time we camp we go mining we camp at state parks that have showers no microwave just the love of fire pit and nature we do instant coffee, can foods, no technology . This is the same list of stuff I packed for my week-long road trips doing my sales route to visit my mining customers across 5 states (except for sleeping bag since I stayed in hotels). You forgot to mention weapons of any kind I am a retired long-haul truck driver and my experience was that a trainer was hauling a training and teaching him and he brought a gun with him and shot her and left her for dead and a Truck Stop which went unnoticed for 3 days. It was very sad

No need towels...dry in your own clothes. Get a phone with bright led lights and that it got a case with a solar charger power bank backup attached to it. Usually those cases are more armored that you can use it as a hammer or a self defense weapon. Bring a fanny pack. Helps a lot. Nailcutters, if you wear glasses, get numerous pairs! Cant drive without glasses and youre fucked when you break them while on the road.

you can expect your DOT mandated 10 hour break. anything more is a bonus, but don't expect it. Ideally you've got an hour after work and an hour in the morning with 8 hours of sleep. Remember, if you aren't rolling you probably aren't making any money.

Depending on your trainer, the ONLY space you'll have is that top bunk. You won't have space for a cooler. It's nice to have when you're in your own truck, but don't bring this with your trainer.

Hey Chad thanks for the advice...I'm still learning and researching the industry, but have spoken to PAM and slated to attend school here in the Detroit area in December, 2018. To my understanding, I have an option to stay with them for 1 year after graduation, or go to another company. I have heard that if you stay with the company, you don't have a choice in the runs you make cause you're in training... I am more interested in staying local, than going OTR. What other options do I have, as far as Class A, B, and other driving qualifications?

I have a quick question I was told I need to get prescription glasses before it going into truck driving as I cannot see that well far but I could see up close would you recommend giving the progressive lens or just a straight vision for far...

if you can read the eye chart at the DMV your fine, reading glasses will not be accepted, do the safe thing and have your eyes checked, besides you need to do it for the public not just for yourself

If you bring more than a large duffel and a backpack you've brought too much. Not only will bringing too much stuff annoy your trainer, but you'll find that it's gonna annoy you too. You aren't going out with your trainer on vacation, you're there to work. Expect long hours and very little break time. You shouldn't need anything more for entertainment than your smart phone and maybe a small tablet with a set of ear buds. While I'm on that subject, be sure to pack some 12V chargers for those small electronics. Also, if you're a smoker and have a smoking trainer then you should bring your own cupholder ash tray.
