Great Country Timber Frames

2 жыл бұрын

Join us on this incredible barn build in central Iowa. Feel the tension & excitement in the air as the team prepares to build one of our largest barns to date: a 64' x 152' Timber Frame Gambrel-Style Barn. After carefully crafting all the joinery in our Ellington, CT shop, 6 truckloads of timber are delivered to the job site in Iowa, and the crew arrives on site. Assembling a timber frame of this scale is no easy task, and the teamwork, experience, and determination of our crew comes into play as the barn takes shape and the oak pegs secure each connection. Follow the story from frame to finish, and marvel at the epic completed exterior and breathtaking interior. Building on the style of early Americans, whose 1800s-era post & beam barns still dot the landscape today, this massive timber frame barn is just as authentic, and will serve & inspire for generations to come.

Interesting work! I bet this barn last for 300 years or more because these frames are much stronger than other ordinary barns. Great job!

I am completely blown away by this project! Not just by the sheer magnitude of the structure, which in and of itself is amazing, but by all the careful and detailed steps that went into creating this magnificent piece of artwork. What a testament to the skills of all those who touched this project. From those who captured and conceptualized this dream during the initial stages, then those who created the engineered drawings, to those who carefully cut and shaped the wooden timbers into precisely fitting beams and finally to those who carefully and skillfully raised this epic structure in the middle of the heartland of Iowa! The videography also helps paint the picture of using today’s modern day techniques that pay tribute to the artisans of years past who used many of these same building and construction methods. Well done and a magnificent example of craftsmanship and artistry!

WOW!! What a gorgeous feat of engineering! Stunningly beautiful! I'm m a lifelong model builder, stick and tissue scale airplanes, some plastic and, one year into retirement, wooden sailing ships. I'm planning on building a large playbarn for a friends grandchild. I want this barn to last generations, I want to build it scale 3/4" = 1' for 1/16" die cast farm equipment.this advertising/sales build video supplies me with enough information to create what I envision. I'm so glad I found your video during my research. Thank you so much! Steve Probelski

@@GreatCountryTimberFrames I applaud you guys, the time spent on the details to make a build like that come together most would never understand, my guess would be in the thousands of man hours. Just the logistics of all the guys, tools, trucks and gear/equipment working remote is a big project in itself.

Well here goes, I think Great Country Timber Frame should have undertaken the replacement of the forest, aka the roof structure of Notre Dame Cathedral. They could have sent you the specs, since we know they have had them for years. I know they want to use trees from France, but the amount time they’ve spent, they could have shipped their timbers to you knowing the pieces would be done within a .001 of an inch and fit better than they ever had. They’d probably be headed back to Paris, and ready to install provided they prepared everything for reassembly. I know I’ll get flack on this, but they need to get a weather tight roof on that cathedral. I know there’s more to it than than the average guy knows, but I also have that much faith in your companies abilities. Just my 2¢ worth.
