Hello Sir, just installed the same on mine. On question though installing the top upper crashbar with the frame you say as well as the manual to save the bolt and nut and reuse it once you put the upper crash bar with the socket. The problem i have is the original bolt is now short and cannot put the nut on that screw since now is short. Any idea on that please ?
@GreatEgret3 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the confusion. What I should have said is save the nut, but use the longer bolt that came in the packet. Ditch the short bolt.
@kocibo873 жыл бұрын
@@GreatEgret thanks - btw I used the two extra long bolts to tight the upper crash bar down to the socket with engine guard since there was extra washer and normal bolt used below was short as well there. Did you use the standard bolt down at the socket to tight up the upper crashbar or you used the extra long bolt for that ?
@GreatEgret3 жыл бұрын
That extra washer does make it difficult. I heard some riders don't use that washer, but the correct way is to leave everything loose enough, including the mounts that you first installed so that you can get everything lined up correctly. In some cases it may be necessary to just leave the exhaust lowered during the whole process until everything is lined up. I just did this for the second time this week on a 2021 ATAS and left everything loose and the exhaust lowered until I had every bolt threaded. Then a little at a time I tighten each bolt and nut until everything was lined up. It's not easy, but with a bit of patience, it worked.

I really like those Givi panniers too. I might get them for road touring, but for off-road I think I might go with a set of LoneRiders.

Great video series, I could not find instructions for honda crash bar installation. That would be great if you had a chance to share scan copy of those instruction papers. Anyway, fantastic videos, appreciated greatly.

Thanks! I can't post a link directly to the installation instructions, but you can find them on Honda's website here: powersports.honda.com/accessories/listing?year=2020&segment=3&category=7 Just sort by the Africa Twin, then by your trim (Either standard or ATAS). Then look for the individual instructions for the Engine guard and for the light bar.

Hi. Are crashbars the same for dct and manuel? If not do you know how to recognize them? Thanks
@GreatEgret9 ай бұрын
The light bar/crash guard are the same for manual and DCT, but they are different for the standard and Adventure Sports models. The engine guard is the same for all models. Each one has a product code: Engiine guard for both Standard and ATAS, DCT and maual: 08P71-MKS-E00 ATAS Light bar/Upper crashbar, DCT and manual: 08P70-MKS-E20 Standard Light bar/Upper crashbar, DCT and Manual :08P70-MKS-E00 Engine guard attachment you'll need for both engine guard and light bar/upper crash bar: 08P75-MKS-E00 Also, If you head to the Honda Powersports website, you can filter by bike and find the correct one you need. There you will also see the porduct codes.

Great video! Thanks. How about your experience with these Honda OEM crash bars? I have heard if you don’t have a bar joining both bars there is a risk to damage the bike. For example the hepco ones don’t have this option but Givi does.
@GreatEgret2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I know this is a “you’re mileage may vary” type of situation, but I have dropped this bike with the OEM bars a lot and it’s done it’s job every time. I’ve seen bars damaged, but never damage to a bike to the point it wasn’t rideable. While the bars get mangled in a bad drop, I feel that’s what they are designed to do. Take the brunt of a drop to protect the bike. With that said, I may feel differently after another riding season. I’ll probably do a video on my thoughts on these bars at the end of the year.

Hi! You should get a hard copy of them with the crash bars. If your dealer negotiated to provide them, you can find them on the Honda Powersports website. I can’t post a link directly to them, but if you plug in your year and model, then click on the bars, there should be a PDF you can download: powersports.honda.com/accessories/listing?year=2020&segment=3&category=7

How did these handle drops??
@GreatEgret Жыл бұрын
I’ve dropped it more times than I care to admit. One time so hard the brake lever broke. Every time the engine guard and the “accessories bar” took the brunt of the impact and protected the bike. Are there stronger bars than these? For sure, but but for me, theses worked great! YMMV.
