Gamebirds, also known as landfowl are birds that constitute the order Galliformes, there are over 336 extant species within nine families, six superfamilies, and two suborders, living gamebird species range in size from the asiatic chungchi to the blue peafowl, gamebirds are native everywhere in the world except for Antarctica, many gamebirds adapt into different habitats, all gamebirds are exclusively herbivorous, many gamebird species use sexual dimorphism, which makes males have different plumage color from females, the nine extant gamebird families are Megapodiidae (Megapodes), Cracidae (Curassows, Guans, Chachalacas, and Pollopavo), Numididae (Guineafowl), Rollulidae (Roulouls), Phasianidae (Pheasants, Monals, Yejakuns, Tragopans, and Sonakebaters), Odontophoridae (New World Partridges and Quails), Perdicidae (Old World Partridges and Quails), Tetraonidae (Grouse, Turkeys, and Koklasses), and Gallidae (Chickens, Shizurens, Francolins, Spurfowl, Senlinaos, Ropohons, Jinegus, Daoiren, Peafowl, Arguses, Nartakees, Wajameras, Rohutans, Snowcocks, Chungchis, Alavorona, and Shabalrimals), the six gamebird superfamilies are Megapodioidea (Megapodes and Fossil Relatives), Cracoidea (Curassows, Guans, Chachalacas, Pollopavo, and Fossil Relatives), Numidoidea (Guineafowl and Fossil Relatives), Phasianoidea (Pheasants, Monals, Yejakuns, Tragopans, Sonakebaters, and Roulouls), Perdicoidea (Partridges and Quails), and Galloidea (Chickens, Shizurens, Francolins, Spurfowl, Senlinaos, Ropohons, Jinegus, Daoiren, Peafowl, Arguses, Nartakees, Wajameras, Rohutans, Snowcocks, Chungchis, Alavorona, Shabalrimals, Grouse, Turkeys, and Koklasses), the two gamebird suborders are Numides (Gondwanan Gamebirds) and Galli (Laurasian Gamebirds) List of Gamebird Families: 1) Megapodiidae (contains 9 genera: Leipoa, Talegalla, Aepypodius, Alectura, Macrocephalon, Tetraopavo, Nesopodius, Eulipoa, and Megapodius) 2) Cracidae (contains 16 genera: Oreophasis, Dendrophasis, Petrophasis, Ortalis, Penelopina, Chamaepetes, Aburria, Pipile, Eupenelope, Penelope, Mitu, Pauxi, Nothocrax, Cyanirostris, Rufirostris, and Crax) 3) Numididae (contains 5 genera: Acryllium, Agelastes, Guttera, Cirrocrax, and Numida) 4) Rollulidae (contains 6 genera: Xenoperdix, Melanoperdix, Rhizothera, Arborophila, Caloperdix, and Rollulus) 5) Phasianidae (contains 18 genera: Chrysortyx, Tragopan, Tetraophasis, Lophophorus, Ithaginis, Catreus, Euplocamus, Gennecus, Tropicophasis, Lobiophasis, Crossoptilon, Lophura, Syrmaticus, Calophasis, Nesophasis, Graphephasianus, Chrysolophus, and Phasianus) 6) Odontophoridae (contains 10 genera: Colinus, Dendrortyx, Philortyx, Lophoperdix, Oreortyx, Callipepla, Rhynchortyx, Cyrtonyx, Dactylortyx, and Odontophorus) 7) Peridicidae (contains 10 genera: Ophrysia, Perdicula, Anurophasis, Nesortyx, Synoicus, Coturnix, Lerwa, Ptilopachus, Alectoris, and Perdix) 8) Tetraonidae (contains 15 genera: Pucrasia, Agriocharis, Meleagris, Bonasa, Canachites, Pedioectes, Dendragapus, Tympanuchus, Centrocercus, Falcipennis, Tetrastes, Ortygoperdix, Lagopus, Lyrurus, and Tetrao) 9) Gallidae (contains 30 genera: Ammoperdix, Margaroperdix, Excalfactoria, Tetraogallus, Viridipes, Tropicoperdix, Haematortyx, Polyplectron, Rheinardia, Argusianus, Afropavo, Pavo, Oreoperdix, Arboricola, Sondaicornis, Sinortyx, Xenortyx, Afroperdix, Eupternistis, Pternistis, Rutilortyx, Galloperdix, Scleroptila, Campoclinus, Peliperdix, Dendroperdix, Ortygornis, Francolinus, Bambusicola, and Gallus) List of Gamebird superfamilies: 1) Megapodioidea (contains 1 family: Megapodiidae) 2) Cracoidea (contains 1 family: Cracidae) 3) Numidoidea (contains 1 family: Numididae) 4) Phasianoidea (contains 2 families: Rollulidae and Phasianidae) 5) Perdicoidea (contains 2 families: Odontophoridae and Perdicidae) 6) Galloidea (contains 2 families: Tetraonidae and Gallidae) List of Gamebird suborders: 1) Numides (contains 3 families: Megapodiidae, Cracidae, and Numididae) 2) Galli (contains 6 families: Rollulidae, Phasianidae, Odontophoridae, Perdicidae, Tetraonidae, and Gallidae)
