We share so much in music. I love Ulcerate and cant wait until my preorder of the latest album will drop in the mail. Listened to "Ancient steel" as well. Man, that was head on. Reminded me also of Witchcraft, and also Kadavar from Germany. Hope they release something soon. As always you did an interesting episode. Keep the riffs going❤️

Congrats on hitting 5k, been here since the start so it’s great to see more people getting switched on the Big Riff Energy. Very jealous of your Sumerlands vinyl, only discovered them in last few months and the first album slays over the second and that vinyl ain’t cheap anymore. Rock on.

To me, Ulcerate have been the best extreme metal band on the planet for more than 10 years by now. They have in my opinion never released a less than stellar album since their inception, but it maybe took a couple of albums to fully develop a TRULY unique style and expression transcending mere, say, Immolation worship. Personally I think it was around the excellent 'Vermis' album from 2013, that they, at least to me, once and for all left all the other pretenders to the throne in the dust, and they haven't looked back ever since. I really can't for the life of me imagine ANY album of 2024 challenging 'Cutting the Throat of God' as my AOTY; Ulcerate have never been better! This in an album we will be talking about in reverence still in 5, 10 and 20 years from now, I predict. Awe inspiring... 👌👌

The new Ulcerate is pretty amazing. One of those albums you can get deeply immersed into. I do a lot of writing and music like that is perfect for entering a different mental zone. My favorite of theirs is still The Destroyers of All. I feel like a lot of newcomer fans overlook that one. I think I've mentioned them before here, but have you heard the album Imperative Imperceptible Impulse by Ad Nauseam? Italian dudes, came out a few years ago. As DIY as it gets. I hear they even created some of their own equipment and instruments, and the production is maybe the best I've ever heard on a metal record. Super smart stuff, kinda proximate to Ulcerate but weirder (maybe). Sick shirt too man.

Ulcerate didnt work for me. I tried listening to their latest two albums, they both sounded the same and sounded very basic to me. Drumming too fast and muddled, basic growls, average riffs. I was expecting it to be heavier.
