I remember watching football through the 80s and early 90s. Stars back then had no protection. They were constantly been fouled hard having very few chances to display their game . Maradona would have been more successful nowadays

Yes. That's true. The Portuguese players broke Pele in 1966 world cup. So the yellow card starts in 1970.

Pele, Messi, Maradona. All of them fantastic. Messi and Maradona could dribble a lot. Pele could dribble a lot too, but beyond that, He could jump high and Heading the ball strong and was physically very strong. Messi and Pelé was top scorer. Like a goal Machine. All of them used create many chances for the another players. Is difficult to compare players off different eras. I think in terms of intelligent capacity, Pelé was above them. Is difficult to compare. Pele won 3 world cup and score more than 1000 goals.

@@mitonaarea5856 It's true. He doesn't have 1000 official goals. Back then there weren't as many championships as there are today. Santos was paid to travel around Brazil and around the world to play tournaments. Everyone wanted to see Pelé.

To me Pele is the greatest football player of all time. Why he used most of the tricks used by today's players... so, if someone does a trick before most well known players after him, that means they have learned from him or saw him do. Second he won 3 world cups. Third his game was complete and had no weakness in all departments.

Have you heard of Garrincha? From your comment I assume not!! He is regarded by many as the greatest dribbler of all time! Therefore the “tricks” you speak of weren’t something that was unique to Pele’s game during that period!!

He is the biggest idol for many after him. He is not the biggest rebounder of all times, he is not the strongest of times, he is not the best three point shooter of all times, but it is agreed that he is the most complete basketball player of all times; meaning he scores high in many departments. Pele is the same. He is the first football super star, he scores high in many departments in football. Tell me any other player who scores high in all departments in football? Mind you, I am a 53 year old football crazy man who watched Maradona play live. The only other player that can be in real conversation with Pele is Maradona and Ronaldo R9. That is my opinion, so it is OK if you have different opinion.

@@AbdisalamFarah391 So to assess Pele we have to assess the period in which he played.I believe Garrincha was technically more complete than Pele as a player. And I would also question the league Pele played in. His 1000+ goals has been questioned as being somewhat dubious. He never tested himself outside the Brazilian league and would later play in the Mickey Mouse US league. Now before I go further, I’d love to actually hear the games you saw Maradona play live? I’m mid 40’s so grew up watching Maradona only on tv. But would be interesting to know which specific games you watched him play live?
