@@Mpc333k well of course any rapper could do that…I know hundreds of classic rap verses that are stored in my head that I could spit at anytime…includijg Black Thought verses. Im not saying BT isnt talented, he’s an insane lyricist. But theres dozens of insane lyricists…how many people can do what Harry Mack does? Black Thought is no doubt the better rapper, but Harry Mack is no doubt the better freestyle rapper which is a more rare and mind blowing skill. I hate that the word freestyle has went from one meaning to another without any clarification…theres a big difference

@@andy1181-l3m Wrong again. Not “any” rapper can do what these dudes did. Read their names again; they’re literally all elite or bonafide legends my guy. You being able to remember someone else’s verses because you listened to their joints or read them off rapgenius isn’t even CLOSE to the same thing as Black Thought conjuring up lyrics from inside his head that he HIMSELF has created without ever writing them down in the first place. Off the dome freestyles were already popular in the mid 80’s all the way to the 90’s. I went to the same high school Busta went to where he/DMX/Jigga/Biggie were known for battle rapping. That shit was always off the dome. Supernatural could pick up a mic and rhyme for hours n hours on end. Big L battled off the dome against other unknown up and comers who would show up with prewrittens and still wax em with personals. Jay walked in the booth with Saigon, heard the beat they were boutta collab on for the first time, created a verse on the spot and spat it in real time in one take without writing it down first, then promptly left. I could go on and on. It’s just y’all youtube aficionados who find that rippity rappity weak ass form of freestyling that Harry is known for impressive for some goofy ass reason. Black Thought is on a whole different level: not only can he create and draw from lyrics inside his head without ever writing them down but he can also mix and match em IN REAL TIME to generate actually meaningful, thought-provoking verses that could rival high form poetry. Harry Mack could NEVER do that even if he had an encyclopedia sitting in front of him. I don’t give a fuck what you hate; freestyles have always been classified as free form spitting; whether it’s off the dome, or prewrittens, or lyrics stored in your head - it doesn’t matter. You could make that distinction, but at the end of the day they’re still all freestyles. Even in other genres, this same form of freestyling carries over. You think Buddy Rich ripping drum solos on the spot was all 100% improv?? No, they were drawn from practice sessions he had performed for days and days on end and had them stored in his memory banks that he would put together live. I can tell you’ve never seen The Roots perform on stage. Tariq been spitting like this over Quest drum solos since he was 19. There’s a reason why he’s considered to be one of the greatest live performers of all time. And he did this shit ad infinitum for all the classics The Roots put out. Comparing Harry to BT is like pitting the karate kid against Thanos. Put sum respeck on the GOAT’s name.
