In the 1950's and 60's we ribbed our parents about listening to 20 year old music. Now WE are still listening to 60 year old music! Now when we look back we see how YOUNG some of these musicians were. Many were just in their teens when their music went not only nation wide but world wide in popularity. Think of that.

My dad died in 1963; Mom and I became very close afterwards. She'd listen to a lot of my music (until psychedelia came along) and I'd listen to hers. She taught me to love Big Band and some of the '40s and '50s crooners. My 10 year older sister started me listening to rock 'n' roll when I was 6. Mom totally loved Herman's Hermits, Manfred Mann and the Dave Clark 5. I was open minded and really lucky to get a good musical education from an early age.

It’s fascinating to see how what people relate to change! One is not better than the other . The term “ one hit wonders “ is actually a come on to listen to the best music of the times . Yes there were and still are great groups 5hat had more than one song . All the groups that are to numerous to talk about . Had a lot of songs . But didn’t get radio play . There was American Bandstand that picked one song from any one or group . And that is what you went with. Remember it was about the end of 45 s and AM radio . So you had to go to a record shop and find the new what was called “ Albums “ . And the turn table , tuner , speakers era arrived . So there was so much music to be heard . And times changed . So I still love the music I grew up with . Drifters , Platers , Frankie Lyman, little Anthony , Brenda Lee , Bill Haley , Gene Vincent , Carl Perkins , Marty Robbins . Need I go on ! Enjoy all that you can . I graduated high school in 1962 . I’m old , but I love music !

@Jibbie49- The Teddy Bears lead singer was Annette Kleinbard. She later changed her name to Carol Connors and in 1963 wrote "Hey Little Cobra" for the Riptides. That's her doing the "shut 'em down" part in the back ground.

Radio channels, like KYA and KLIV, used to release records with the latest hits on them. i had many of their albums and half of these hits were on them.

As has been noted by several commenters, several of these bands were very far from ‘One-Hit Wonders’. Still, I’m liking that several of these versions were live (e.g., ‘Venus’). It’s cool to hear a different, current (then) version than the studio version, and some of these are really good.
