This is my absolute favorite Metallica song. It's the one that got me into them. I was introduced to Metallica with all the Black Album singles being played on the radio and MTV. But one day, my neighbor was getting drunk in his front yard and had a big boom box just blasting music. All of a sudden I hear this bell ring out. It perked my ears up. Then that riff kicks in. I was thinking who is this band? Then James starts singing and I recognize that voice. Could this be Metallica? I went to Camelot Music the next time I went to the mall and started looking for that song and walked out with Ride The Lightning. Favorite Metallica album.

This is what drew me to Metallica in the 80's. I was listening to Crue, Ratt, Queensryche. I started moving to Sabbath and Death. I was looking for somthing, searching for somthing I myself didn't even know I needed. Someone handed me a cassette, Kill Em All, and I was floored. Cartoon mouth hit the floor. Nobody was doing this in the 80's. Ever since, I've been a fan. Waiting at the record store to get my hands on the first cassette to come out of the box when they released an album. Man, I miss those days. I remember sitting on my living room floor, waiting with vibratory excitment, a 12 pack of Schlitz hidden in the bushes outside, for One to debut on Headbangers ball. \m/

Back in 87-88 Cliff Em All satiated the thirst for Metallica music. Masters was over a year old. No new music from them (Garage Days - covers - only increased the desire for more Metallica). It's hard to describe the relief it was to get the video. And remember this alienated many fans who, as history confirms, thought Metallica was selling out. But for a brief year or two they managed to be both "underground" and widely popular. Alas, money talks and integrity walks and soon they were monetizing everything in the name of the Metallica business. But it was a blast to be there in real time. "Out in the road today, I saw a Metallica sticker on a Tesla X"
@razeezar2 жыл бұрын
@@medinadg Fans have been whingeing about them 'selling out' since Fade to Black. As if the earlier in Metallica's career that a fan drops off the train, the more 'genuine' a fan they are or some shit.
