Beer? Naw. Sandwiches? Hell yes, drivers have had and will continue to snack should they so choose. No jam/jelly though, it melts and runs. As a diehard fan I’ll be the first to admit nascar isn’t always like that. Understanding the sport also makes things a lot more interesting. A lot of those races where the cars were bunched up was at tracks called superspeedways where the cars don’t have to let off the throttle, causing pack racing because of how the cars are set up. You also have intermediate tracks, short tracks, and road courses.
@dylanholman34 жыл бұрын

"This seems a lot more like people have just suped up cars and just gone for it" nascar has roots in Illegal moonshiners tuning up their cars to run from the cops. Eventually, one could say inevitably, the question arose of who was faster, and thus nascar was born.... On another note, most of the tracks that nascar races at are basically just giant stadiums, many of them seat over 100,000 fans, complete with US style pre-event tailgating...actually nascar races are tailgating turned up to 11, tens of thousands of fans will come in their RV/motorhome and start that pre-event atmosphere going days before the actual race. I used to live in Dover, Delaware, which hosted a nascar race twice a year at that time, and during race weekend the population of the city would effectively quadrouple.

They drive so close to each other because it allows them to go faster, if you are alone you will be going slower than the cars drafting/slipstreaming or bumper drafting/tango drafting. Drafting or slipstreaming usually only benefits the trailing car but bumper drafting/tango drafting benefits both cars, the trailing car gains speed from the leading car thanks to drafting and then leading car gains a little speed from the trailing car from the cars being so close together and changing the pressure at the rear of the car leading car. In NASCAR drivers will push each other taking full benefit of this effect allow them to gain 5mph to 15mph over the rest of the drivers. They will do this until the finish line is in sight and then its anyones race.

7:50 At the superspeedways, the track is so wide, so big, and the turns so steep that you don't need to ever touch the brakes. To keep the speeds safe for the drivers and spectators, NASCAR is forced to artificially hamper speeds. So they place restrictors that limit the amount of fuel and air mixture. As a result drivers are required to use aerodynamics to get a speed advantage. A car pushes the air aside and every car in the row behind pushes the car in front of it. That's why he lost all that ground when he lost the wind tunnel effect ("draft").

Thats the thing people don't usually get about NASCAR, it's not just "turning left". These cars have 800hp, tiny drum brakes and are constantly being pushed around by front, rear and side drafts. Plus you like y'all said, they constantly have someone behind or on their door at all times so the tiniest mistake can cause huge wrecks. Watch an in car camera and you'll see the drivers constantly working the wheel trying to keep the car from sliding or spinning out

they keep the speed down some, they make them put restrictor plates in the carburation system, otherwise they could go much faster, not a Nascar guy, but I think the have a certain ci displacement cap too .Every car is inspected for compliance to all the rules before you get into the pit area.

10:07 I feel like there seems to be a general love for commentators from countries other than your own. Because how Office Bloke Dave responded to those NASCAR commentators is how I feel about Ian Darke and Arlo White announcing soccer games.

With the larger tracks like Daytona and Talladega, drafting(riding close behind car to cut wind resistance)is very important because they put restrictor plates on the carburetor to limit the power and top speed. If you get out of the draft you slow down a lot.

They have an infield at NASCAR races. There's DEFINITELY beer allowed 🤘 the stands you have to pay for, extremely expensive. Infield are motorhomes and trailers, it's a 3 day party!!!

If you guys want to watch something more fun, you should check out the greatest saves in NASCAR history. Driving where the car, in 98% or 99% of other occasions would be headed for a crash, but where the driver somehow saved it and kept driving it. It's fun to watch.
