@elliotmorandi26742 жыл бұрын
For these 46 some odd minutes videos, they leave alot out and dramatize certain aspects for flair - but reading the comments, it should be made clear - the Iraqi tanks *did* fire and return fire and on a number of instances, land hit on the M1s but the rounds failed to penetrate. People underestimate just how much more advanced the M1 is to a tank like the T-72. The M1's armor is virtual immune to most type of fire they face during these engagements and the M1 could unload round after round while moving full throttle, while most of the time the T-72 had trouble tracking them (optically) much less landing hit and then what they landed had no effect. It was a real battle against well armed opponents - it just seemed to end up as a "turkey shoot" (as some have put it) because our forces are highly trained and their equipment was light years ahead of the enemy's. Even a good boxer can be made to look foolish and sloppy when stepping into a ring with a *great* boxer.

By comparison, NATO equipment in particular is the polar opposite, very “quality over quantity” - there isnt much equipment, but the equipment that’s there is very capable and effective. Basically…NATO equipment is designed with modern war and tactics in mind, while Soviet/Russian equipment is designed with WW1-esque mass assault wave tactics in mind.

No, I was here. I was Alpha 2nd ACR. The real game changer is TTS imaging. Stabilization is nice, but it isn't perfect. You can short halt and move with nearly the same effect. On the other hand, when you can see and kill the enemy and he can't see you, it's game over. Especially in the sand storms. Actually I kind of felt sort of sorry for them. If you'd ever seen a T-72 hit by a sabot or a HEAT round, it's pretty grim. Secondary explosions just torching the whole crew alive. Some of our friendly fire kills were just as grim.

I have a few takeaways from this particular episode. 1.) Ya failed to include the British 8th. Army's own ferocious tank battle as they moved into Kuwait 🇰🇼, itself, alongside the US Marines' attack. In fact, it was a Challenger 1 tank that recorded the longest tank-on-tank kill shot of just mite OVER 3 MILES!!! 2.) While I mentioned it, the Marines' own nasty tank engagement at the Kuwait International Airport. Mind you, they, the Marines, were using the M-60 MBT as their armored regiments' tank of choice!!! Yet, they blasted ta hell, a good chunk of Iraqi armor. Though, they DID take some heavy losses. (A Marine tanker can correct me on this. As my memory is shoddy on it.) 3.) Our French allies, too, who were guarding the Allies' far left flank, ALSO had engaged Iraqi armor, too. While this, SOLELY, focus' on American tank battles. If you TRULY wish to tell the story of the final tank battle(s) of the 20th. Century, THEY MUST BE included, too. Otherwise, you're NOT getting the WHOLE, COMPLETE picture of that battle. So, c'mon. Please, get it right. Modify this episode to include those tank actions from the Marines and, our French and, British Allies, too, okay???? What's fair, is fair; what's right, is right!!
@cjmanson56925 күн бұрын
You do realize that neither the Marines, the French, the British, etc., were nowhere near the Battle of 73 Easting, right? If the episode was about Desert Storm in general, then yes, they would most certainly have been included.

It was a gas guzzler and the Russians took out the more efficient engine and put in an old junker from the Korean War . They couldn't maneuver around at night because The Red Guard had the only night vision equipment and from what I've heard from one of our Tankers , it was also a piece of crap . Today, we see that a good anti-tank missile, like the Javelin, can turn a main battle tank into scrap in seconds. So we will get to see how the Russians have advanced in their anti-tank missiles in that past 20 years and if those Abrams the US are sending to Ukraine become targeted by Russian drones and turned into $8M piles of burning scrap. Same with the Leopards that Germany are sending. That would be a bad look for US technology.

they cover canadians, british, soviets, israelis, egypt, etc. Definitely not just American tank battles. It's also one that most people know of since it's far more recent than pretty much any of the other tank battles.

you say seen most of these then proceed to blatantly lie about what the series is lmao. there is only a few episodes on americans. the rest are british, canadian, etc
@Archer9572 жыл бұрын
Amusing you say that because the next several episodes aren't about American tanks at all

not like it would've done them much good. They would've had vastly obsolete Aircraft that the US boys in the sky would have a field day with.

@@kevinimperati8644 Not really the case in Desert Storm. The Iraqi Air Force was equipped with high-tech fighters such as the Mirage F1, the MiG-29, etc.
