i have such trouble with techs, i know how to do them, i can do them last stock if i get hit with a spike killscreen because of the extra time, but i cant condition it into my brain to tech normally

I forgot where I saw this but a good practice is to go to Snake's map (regular) which has a wall on either side. Then have a CPU spam their B (i.e. Ganon or someone like that) or forward smash and you get hit by them and can practice teching off the wall. This was a game-changer for me to get a better feel for the timing. Hope this helps!

In all games that the series features it is a technical mechanic that has the ability to cancel all knockback if you don’t press the shield button right when your character hits a wall.
@JulieLamia8 ай бұрын
Teching in fighting games refers to cancelling knockdowns or knockback by performing a certain action, letting you recover faster and potentially towards a chosen direction. In Smash, this applies to knockbacks that would bounce you on the ground, walls or ceiling, by pressing the Shield button right before impact. You can tell if something is techable by the impact effect showing up with green - if it's showing red, the hit was too strong to tech. With ground techs, you can tech in place or roll to a side, too.
