All you gotta do is time a shield button press when you hit the stage, it takes some practice in specific situations but you can get pretty good at it after a while, I suck at stage techs too sometimes 😭

It's always been able to spike, but it's very weak and is main there to set up into the final explosion hitbox. Most characters can recover from that spike, especially if they have their 2nd jump.
