That song actually saved my life when i was a youngster in high school back in the 80s. I never thought back then how iconic Metallica and that song would become back then. Just come across your channel. As someone who loves both metal and classical ( the crossover is there....Mars, God of War and Diamondhead's "Am I Evil"), your ear for music is incredible. The reason Metallica's early albums are the best is because Cliff Burton, the dearly departed odiginal bassist, was a classically trained musician. RESPECT!!!

I used to date a Harpist a long time ago, she played a couple of Metallica songs on her Clarsach harp. She'd converted it so it had electric pickups and used to run her Metallica tracks through various guitar pedals, including a distortion pedal. It was one of 3 that she owned, including a concert pedal harp.

Never thought a song talking about encouraging Suicide could be so beautiful...that's the scary part....I know when I was down and out back in the 80s I would play this song on repeat for 3 hours at a time....eventually I learned how to play the complete song on guitar including the solo...it just hit what my soul was feeling at the time...still does

It helps me to truly appreciate how great, great metal music is in comparison to other great forms of music when you hear it on an instrument like a piano or violin. It seems to me that a piece of music such as this would have been appreciated by many revered classical composers, and perhaps expanded. By any standard the melody of this song for instance is beautiful.

Fade to Black, was MY first Metallica tune on my western guitar back in the mid 80's. ( It sounds a bit like the Danish band "GASOLIN" - This is my life..1976. Which actually was MY FIRST tune on my (mother's Spanish) guitar.)

Loved the rendition at the end of the video. Also, you cant wear that cattle decap shirt and not expect some requests.
