I see Operation: Mindcrime as more of a transitional type song rather than a hit song. They have much much better songs. Have him listen to Silent Lucidity.

I remember the day Ghost Reveries came out! I bought the CD at Best Buy, as I was heading home I put in the disc, Ghost of Perdition gently came on and BOOM!! I thought I shit myself with those growls!! 10 minutes later I needed a cigarette 😅

Like that all the time. No longer under the influence of anything. We’re both in long term recovery at this point. I suppose we’re both just wacky from the past struggles! Thanks for hanging out with us!

I feel exactly the same as Judson about the putridity in death metal. I'm much more interested in a lyricists perspective on the WHY's & WHERE's rather than the WHAT's & HOW's.

If you do songs from this album you need to do the Forte version. Much more polished. The production is so good.

One of my favorite metalcore song ever (and band), so sad what happened to this band lately Talking about Austrian death machine, their drummer just left the band for what seems to be the same reason as AILD members

They say harsh vocals are pitchless but there is vibration, so there is frequency because that is what frequency is. You not using you true vocal folds its false folds and epiglottis are vibrating.

Awesome pick! Love me some FFAA. They’re one of the most experimental bands in the deathcore scene and easily one of the best. I’d love to see y’all’s take on ‘Two Towers’ as it’s one of the more unique tracks from them. As to your impression of their lyrics, I don’t think they’re satanic at all. In fact, almost no modern deathcore bands are even satanic-adjacent. Sure, theres a lot of biblical imagery in this song, but the subject matter isn’t biblical, it’s social. It’s about how inherent human flaws like pride, lust for power and greed are baked into every facet of our lives, and how the greedy and powerful corrupt institutions like the church so they can wield it like a cudgel to beat everyone else into submission. “Bastard sons of sin Birthed by the greatest arsonist They only let the light it To show us darkness is permanent” The arsonist isn’t satan, god or jesus…it’s man. Man made greed, and man made corruption. “An infinite expanse of pine boxes Illuminate the sky Keep me far from heaven So far from heaven” History is littered with millions of caskets filled in the name god. We continue to accept the power that institutions wield, we continue to keep ourselves far from any kind of Heaven. There’s a lot of depth to FFAA’s lyrics, and there’s a lot of catharsis in them as well. Loved the reaction! I genuinely hope you guys circle back around to them again soon! Cheers

I would say this intro was so simple it was kind of metal. It also had a descending feel to it within the chords so it could take anyone along. But after 2 minutes a decision had to be made: serious or practice, and the player's offer could not keep the listener connected with the player. One more hit on the keys and that's it.
