Domonique was the Bob Petit of the mid80s-mid90s in terms of having poor teams and yet one of the top 5 clear cut players with dominant performances against the best of his era. Only difference ofc is petit had more shit with him n won but their circumstances are similar relative to 60s era and mid80s-mid90s era

You know the Bulls were bad when the defender is sagging off to this degree on a midrange shot 9:43. Yes, that was a sophomore Charles Oakley and Paxson was there since Jordan's rookie season, he was drafted 1 season before MJ. Wilkins mostly played on bad or mediocre teams throughout his career. He constantly led them to the playoffs, but the East was very strong in the 80s. The exception was 1988 and 1994. In 1988, everything seemed great for them. Won 50 games, had a good roster, but them ran up against the Celtics in the semifinals. They had a 3-2 lead, but Boston forced a game 7 and you have to react to that game 7. Like I said, one of the greatest ever. Wilkins got injured in the 91-92 season and added the 3pt shot to his arsenal, finished 5th in the MVP voting in 1993, but lost that year in the playoffs to the Bulls. In 1994, the Hawks was the 1st seed and contenders, but then they traded Wilkins late in the season for Danny Manning and Wilkins didn't play in the playoffs lol. His career was pretty much over after that as he dealt with further injuries.

Bird really is the word. Not to take away from Wilkins, he's one of the best scorers of the 80s and 90s, but the reason he never won any was not only because of mediocre teammates on a mediocre franchise, but he wasn't really playing the best defense, especially against those other superstars. I can't remember a clip of seeing Dominique locking any big name player up.

@lotuslife3239 The only Wilkins who could lock someone up was Gerald, his brother. lol

The Hawks were seen back in the late 80s as one of the best teams to never win a title. It was their misfortune to be in the Eastern Comference.

The Hawks were a good team that made the playoffs most of ‘Nique’s time on the Hawks. They just weren’t as good as the Celtics, Bucks, and Pistons they kept running into in the 1st and 2nd round.

Dominique had a terrible team throughout his career, against Boston in 1988 he dropped almost 50 points in game 7 and lost, and he was amazing, his team was just terrible

They weren't terrible lol. They were in the East, in the toughest Division. Bulls, Hawks, Pistons, Cavs. Then Boston, Sixers in the Atlantic. Back then, those teams had to play each other 6 times a year. Today with 30 teams, it's 3 to 4 times.
