Today we install the steel roofing for the dovetail log cabin. This heavy gauge steel roofing is a challenge to work with, but worth it in the end.

I’m getting close to installing a metal roof on my workshop. Thanks for taking the time to share the process for those of us who haven’t installed one before. Cheers!

Thanks for sharing with us Tim, glad you have it covered. You can always take the tin off the side and reuse it on a roof for another project and then put your wood back on the side to stay with your theme?? Looks great around there, have a good adventure and put more on KZbin as you can. Keep up the good work and videos.

Watching from out here in burning California-sorry about the smoke-it is way worse here than out there in SD. Those steel roofs don’t burn easily. Good choice...considering fires will get worse everywhere.

Got tickled when you were finishing last pieces by leaning out. When I'm on the ladder leaning out I have my specialized ladder anchor making sure I dont kickout the ladder also. I dont think they believe we bounce as well as we used to.

The ground around our house is uneven and have 4 different ladder. They are not new, but have the feet that pivot. I used tent stakes as my pattern but each one has a hole I drilled in it and 2 X 4 pallet lumber marked for ladder use. But I can stand the ladder straight, place 1 or 2 blocks of wood and push the 9" spike thru the ladder, block(s) and into the ground. It makes it very stable. Enjoying the build! Question, on the tin panels, we had ring shank nails with a lead washer for sealing, are the new ones a screw type? Interesting! DK, Omaha.

@@GreatPlainsCraftsman Much obliged GPC. J Mac from Boston Massachusetts will proudly be wearing your Sweatshirt this fall. The grey one.. Im stoked! My wife wanted to buy the leggings. She said the sizes are too long for her as she is 4'11" tall. I told her to just hike em up! What do i know? 😀
