I have to say how wonderful it is that you began this video talking about a philosopher. Thousands of young girls are watching videos like this every day, trying to "be more pretty." Your joy for learning comes through naturaly in this video, teaching girls that it´s important to keep their brains pretty as well, and that learning is fun, not just required. I have a child of my own and still had a moment of reflection watching this. What you do really does matter and affects lives. Thank you.

LOVED THIS! Seriously the best explanation of how to do a crown braid. I always mess up in the back but I loved your explanation of trying to keep the hair going down. I had never heard that before.

I love it so much when you do these kinds of introductions to the hairstyle, like telling the story of the person - fictional or real - who inspired it. It is very rare to have the opportunity to hear about literature and philosophy while watching a hair tutorial or any sort of beauty related video :) You go girl! Sapere aude!

I did this style yesterday (I do a lot of styles from your page all the time) and I really loved it. I have had a near-impossible time with crown braiding, so this boosted my confidence and didn't tire out my arms so much. I also had a co-worker come up to me and say "Exactly HOW long do you spend on your hair every day??" ha ha

That is such a cool way to do a rope braid instead of having o twist the hair in different directions. I've tried doing it that way before and it is so confusing but your way is so much better.

About procratination... I went in Athens in november for the marathon (boyfriend running) and wore this hairstyle the whole time, it´s beautiful, it´s quick and it´s historic so it was perfect. Since then it´s my go to hairstyle. I never took time to tell you how much you helped with this video and thank you, so here it is. By the way I share the same admiration of Hypatia, she's one of strong woman model that we should all learn about in our young ages. Same feed-back for the movie, weird and unaccurate. And a special thought to any Greek who read this message, I really loved spending time in your so beautiful Athens, I found you people smart, gracious, and full of talent, I wish I had never returned.

I have been wanting to grow out my fringe for ages, but couldn't figure out how to manage it while it was too short to tuck behind my ears. Anyway, I have been using your technique every day to twist my fringe up and out of the way - I secure it with a couple of clips and I can do whatever I want with the rest of my hair. It's nice and secure, and I have had several compliments on the style. Thanks for the inspiration! One day I will be brave and try doing the whole hairstyle.

I tried this out last night and it looks so pretty! Also, the ends of my braids were way lighter than the rest of my hair, so when I pinned them up, they looked like the gold laurel wreaths Roman emperors would wear. I'M A HISTORY NERD. :D

@StellaLilly I'm totally the same way in the mirror! And yep I was totally going clockwise, but honestly I'm sure you could this in whatever direction feels comfortable to you! And if you're having trouble with fly-a-ways, try putting a little bit of hair spray or molding creme into it first. Might help you grip it better and definitely takes care of those odd bits that stick up! :)

I love this hairstyle; it's so comfy. I learned it from a different guru, so to see you do it differently was really strange. I was thinking, "Wait, is she going CLOCKWISE?????" It's weird to see how different people do the same style! Starting out always stumps me because I can't figure out which way I'm going (You would think at 22 I would know Mirror Me shows what I'm doing in opposite form; I haven't.) and the end is hard! Going up is just so strange and my fine hair flies everywhere!

What a lovely hairstyle and what an interesting backstory. Once I'm more confident in my French/Dutch braiding abilities I'll give it a try. It's the adding little bits of hair part, I just can't get the hand of it. Still, practice, practice! Great video :0)

@StellaLilly LOL It sounds to me like we have the SAME hair time! Have you tried biosilk? I've been thinking of doing a vid where I share some of my fav products, bc I actually love watching other girls do those too! @LaDollyVita33 I think I go clockwise. I just have to remember what clockwise is on my head. I try not to put too many hair products in my hair because I've got the fine/super oily hair combination (it's a lovely combo to have in the summertime....not.
