This looks like it would be a great braid for swimming to get the hair off your neck and back and not worry about it falling down. Can't wait to try it!!!

Time for me to practice the Dutch braid again. Thanks for posting an easier way to make a crown braid. I love learning a new summer style. :)

This variation of yours solves all of my crown braid problems. My crown braids always started perfect, then got wonky when I made it to the opposite ear and had to switch hands. Thank you, dear! Keep up the great work!

I'm not familiar with her work! So thank you! I've got to start a list of suggestions, that way I can check out all the great things that will be recommended!! And I'm so happy the braid worked out well!!! Thats the best compliment I could receive!

This is super great for thick hair! My hair is so thick that when I braid it, it gets super short! Dividing it into two braids is just genius.
@LaDollyVita3312 жыл бұрын
It is!! Last summer I did the two strand twist that Heather just uploaded, and I often wore it on the beach because it would keep my hair from getting stuck in my bathing suit straps and/or keep it from getting wet!

Well thank you so much for subscribing! Heather has been so awesome to me and my channel, and she always sends the coolest people my way! So I'm super appreciative of the support and your tip is great! You'll see, I LOVE hair flowers and I use them a lot as accents! Count me in for the favorites vlog! I love it when we just get to gab, and it'll feel like that, so, thumbs up for that idea. Also? I'm editing and uploading my not-as-cool-yours crown braid as I type this, so the linking can commence shortly!

This is much easier than braiding upside down. I recently trimmed about 4 inches off my length, so i'm hoping my braid can still go past each other when i wrap them around. Bobby pins give me hell, so i'll probably try to work in a ribbon or band to keep them in place. I think i'll wear crowns more often now, if it works for me. Thank you for the tutorial.

I used this in combination with torrinpaige's "Elizabethan Hair Taping" to go camping a few weeks back. It worked great! 3 days tramping through the woods and not once did my hair get in my face or stuck on a tree branch!

This is great ! my hair is too thin for the two side braids of the bad hair day braid (making them a bit looser didn't work well with my layers), i just do one instead so yay for 2 hairstyles that start the same way !
@eellis8512 жыл бұрын
A tip to hide the elastics: you can put little flowers all around the inside rim of the braid to hide them! If the elastic that is showing is more toward the left or right side of your crown, you could use just one flower but I think it would look weird having one flower on the very top haha. P.S. I came here from torrinpaige :) Definitely a subscriber now! I love hair tutorials. My hair was almost to my butt, then into a long bob because I didn't know how to style it! Horrible. lol

Wow, I'm imagining that and it sounds beautiful. With tailbone length hair though, I bet you could just make a ponytail, braid it, and it would wrap around your head, right? My hair isnt long enough for that just yet, but I hope it will be in the future!!
@LaDollyVita3312 жыл бұрын
YAY! Hope it works out beautifully for you!!
@LaDollyVita3312 жыл бұрын
You know what you could try? Some hairspray on your hair before you braid! Spray, brush it through and let it dry. Then braid. Sometimes doing it on wet or damp hair helps too! I have the same problem!!
@LaDollyVita3312 жыл бұрын
No, when I'm braiding, I'm adding to both sides of the braid. When you do a lace crown braid, you only add to one side of the braid, but then a lot of hair is left out of the braid and it turns into a completely different style. I did a vid on that actually, called Lucrezia Borgia inspired hair. This braid is a regular dutch braid, so hair goes into both sides!

Thank you so much for this! I've tried to achieve the Hypatia crown braid a lot of times, but I always messed it up in the last part xD This makes it to much easier :) Another thing I love about your videos is that you use a lot of dutch braids (I'm much better at dutch braiding than I am at french braiding) so I'm always happy when i get to achieve your hairstyles! :)
@softinthesky12 жыл бұрын
really liked it! do you think it will work with a lace braid??
@fksongbird2811 жыл бұрын
I wonder if it would look good and/or be easier if the first three inches of braid were a lace braid that then turned into a french, it may be easier to tuck. I haven't tried it, but it is just an idea!
@gullinvarg12 жыл бұрын
I could if I wasn't doing anything active. I'm looking for something I can do for thing's like jumping rope and jiu-jitsu. Hair taping doesn't cut it. My hair is too fine and slippery so it to just slides down into a U shape at the bottom of my hair if I'm bouncing. I potentially could do a high pony and hair tape and I have done it with one high and one low. I think hair taping is a bit "ren faire" for work though, where a crown braid is fine and lets me go straight to the gym after.

I've seen your videos in a quest for a dutch braid, but couldn't find one.. Could you please do one (if you haven't already)? I looked all over youtube, but it seems really complex and I don't understand.. You always explain so well, that braiding becomes much easier, hence the request xD

I get you!! Well then if this is something that works in a practical way, just be patient and give yourself sometime to practice and soon it'll be second nature. I can't tell you how long it took me to learn french braiding. Now my hands just do it. Are you subbed to torrinpaige? She has very long hair too, so maybe there will be a few ideas on her channel too that might be helpful for managing your hair during physical activities?

Thank you so much, I kept messing this up at the end... now I think I can do it!!
@gullinvarg12 жыл бұрын
I had to tweak this a bit. I have tail bone length, very fine hair. The first time I tried this I "messed up" and took the part all the way back, this worked except I had a wonky part in the back. The second time I did it your way, but my hair is so fine that I'd tapered from a 3/8" to a 1/8" braid with 8" of "tassel". The successful variation was to take the part all the way back like the 1st attempt, braid the small side 1st, then cover the part with the hair that will go into the big side.

I know what you mean about your hair starting to feel heavy. I think I also got that around your length. :) It takes a bit of time to adjust, lol, I'm still figuring things out after all this time :p But crown braids and french braids are an awesome solution for this ^^

I actually found your channel because I'm subbed to torrinpaige. ;) I've also been french braiding since I was a teen or maybe preteen and I'm in my early 40s now. I have the same problem she does for doing a true crown braid, my hair tangles. I actually tried it after doing this the first time, starting with the "upside down" part. You'd think once that was done the rest would be as easy as the "big braid" on this one, but it doesn't work out that way for some reason. :-p
