Gree HVAC may not be known as well as some brands in the USA, but they aren't some small HVAC company making systems to be imported. However, Gree is no small company. They are currently the largest HVAC supplier and exporter worldwide. Although imported from China, they are known to be superior to other Chinese products and brands.

If you have GREE installed already, look at your daily energy consumption thru your electric company. Set the temperature 68 or 70 and leave it alone. dont change it. It uses much less energy to maintain the same temperature all day compared to a temp that is always flucrtuating from the home owner....its cheaper to run the mini split over oil heating anytime...

@@NewHVACGuide I installed two Mr cool universals at my parents house a year ago and they seem to be working well very quiet standing next to them. Only complaint they have is when the 5 ton ramps up to full speed in heat mode there is some vibration being transferred into the line set you can hear in their closet and bathroom. I don't know if this is generally a issue with inverter systems or just these units. I think the linesets are touching wood studs somewhere amplifying the noise, also i had to install the unit pretty close to the house so there was only about a foot of lineset from the unit to the house. As someone who does this for a living would having some extra length in the line set between the house and the unit dampen out the vibrations?

@@NewHVACGuide Just 2 or 3, to new for reliability feedback but they seem nice. They work basically like the Bosch 2.0, our supplier tried to get it to freeze up but the thing watches the suction line and will ramp down and eventually shut themselves off. The way the compressor is designed it can keep the evap coil full, that gets around the problem the Bosch 1.0 had. The virtual factor tour is impressive and the flexx operation range is insane.

Just installed a Gree Flexx 5 ton HP. Definitely higher quality than your big 3. The warranty is unit replacement according to the supplier. One thing that is a problem is the orientation of the service valves. The air handler has them and the flare connection faces inward so as to cause the line sets to block the panel. The outdoor units flare connections point upward which is okay except the schraeders are pointing down which means a leaky schrader will require recovery since the unit won't pump down due to auto shut off. I hope they fix that ASAP because the rest of the unit is very impressive.

Gree in short is I want a ductless system inexpensive and reliable this is where gree falls into. I've sold hundreds of these units. Gree use to be the oem to carrier and Bryant ductless, which has now switched over to media. If there installed correctly and you want the best bang for the buck gree is a solid preformer from what I have seen in the last 10 year's. There are some huge diiferances when it comes to the nitty griity tech stuff. But from a consumer side there priced lower have coated coils, invertor. Only brand to offer 9k and 12k @ 115v heatpump (super popular). High seer, the logic in the invertor board is not on par with the big names but it gets the job done from 0 degree to 115 degree. I'd put it this way when it breaks around year 8-10 junk it unless it an in expensive fix sub 300. Which typically is the condenser fan motor. Surge protector is a must on out door unit disconnect.

From the knowledge I managed to get on the European market, Gree means great/reliable hardware but mediocre software, or power consumption (even on high-end models); other Chinese brands (such as Whirlpool) may have mediocre hardware (breaks down easily) but decent power consumption. So one thing is clear - Gree units are going to last very long and you get a great to premium build quality. But, allegedly, Gree is being dishonest about the SEER and SCOP ratings of some of their products, in Europe (those who lack Eurovent certification). Maybe you, in America, have stricter standards and energy commissions for those ratings.

@@koktntmo292 Whirlpool has a partnership with Hisense. They both produce in the same factory, but Hisense is the parent manufacturer. Again, Hisense are renowned for short-lifetime circuit/inverter boards. Some older Whirlpool units are made by Gree themselves, but the newer ones are owned by Hisense. Same design team for the indoor units also... If you compare their manufacturing assets, then Gree is definitely superior! They even make their own robots. Hisense units can usually go at a lower modulation, like 150-200 watts, but you rarely see a Gree go below 200 unless you dial an engineering mode. People also report they run in frequent on-off cycles, so the software could be better I think. I love Gree and I own one, don't get me wrong! I just think some things could and can be improved... like, you cannot sell an A+++ unit for 400 $ when an A+++ from Mitsubishi or Daikin costs 1000, in Europe... and have us think that's really an A+++ air conditioner. The power meters always show it's not A+++. Daikin units can reach down to 100 watts. Gree will stay at 250-300 (more like A++ or A+), at models with the same tonnage/capacity. But again, Gree units have a great build quality and are reliable, so that's a big plus.

Gree was less than half that amount. The better option about Gree, is that their system works at -22 F degree which many other companies cant even come close to that.....Gree needs to be installed by a Gree contractor to get the full warranty of 10 or 12 yrs or better. Gree is not a lower, nor cheaper quality to Mtsubishi...With Gree, you are just not paying for the name brand....Do the research on google on your own and compare ...you will see how they are equal to Mitsubishi - Same qualitry with a lower price tag.
