In the overcrowded Moria refugee camp, home to 20,000, one young Afghan woman is helping others by teaching them English.
Fereshta Azimi is Afghan. Every afternoon, she gives English lessons to other refugee women to help them regain self-confidence. Even if her efforts may seem derisory, they are nevertheless of precious help: the wait for a residence permit in a European country can last months, even years for these women who find themselves confined in a transit space, far from their country
Who is this young migrant? How does she live? What are her dreams and what does the future hold for her?

You would think by now the camp organizers would of strongly encourage one place for the men and one place for the woman and children/Family unit. Set on this journey and unfortunately this is a consequence of that decision.

I think it's harder that it seems. What about families? Should they be separated? What about children, should they be separated when they reach certain age? The problem there is not just some troublemakers; even good intended people suffer from hoplessness and poor conditions. Separating them will not achieve much. The problem there is their conditions, which are not going to improove. The refugees are being used as political leverage in geopolitics between Turkey and EU. Greece still struggles with its economy. Add to that the GrecoTurkish border dispute... Even if the chef personnel of the camp had the best of intentions, it's a refugee camp for 3000 people. Now it houses over 20000. It is a global problem, not something that a small group of people or even a nation could solve. It requires many countries to coordinate and actually care. That's why it is called a humanitarian crisis.

I was there in 2019, it's was really an open air prison There was a lot of people from many different countries, the conditions were very bad and unbearable. I am in Belgium now and I have a good life, because I am working hard and I am happy now.
