You could hear the sadness and desperation in Ed's voice as he was watching the first friend his age go through a fate worse than death in front of him, and Ling's words reassuring Ed that he knows what he's doing and to trust him shows real friendship. I loved their relationship over the series, real lifelong bros. It's too bad that Ling Yao wasn't in the first adaptation, he was a really good character that the show needed.

What I always liked about this conversation between Ling and Greed is the honesty. Ling outright accepts Greed because of the grueling decisions that led to him achieving the philosopher stone for a greater good (something that Greed paid attention to since his eyes squinted after Ling indirectly mentioned Lanfan losing her arm, showing that Greed's taking Ling seriously and that he's willing to hear him out) Greed isn't mocking or condescending Ling for showing face to his ambition and because of Ling's bluntness and passion for obtaining power, Greed doesn't lie about finding Ling's greed interesting and accepts his offer. It's always interesting to go back and see FMAB moments like this.

From my understanding, it's a way of making people see him as a silly aloof character and underestimate him. After all, when he gets serious,he makes sure you know you have his undivided attention by showing where his gaze is. Greed is different though, so he does what he's comfortable with. Michael Nolan Um, do you mean the characters? Or the sins themselves? Character: A lot actually. Height. Weight. Appearance. Personality. Their goals. Etc. Greed at first was like 6 feet tall, muscular, short hair, dressed like a punk. Had "henchmen" and ran a bar. He wanted to be free. To be his own person. He also said he wanted to become immortal and rule the world. He was kind of sarcastic, but easy going most of the time and refused to fight a lady. Greed's second incarnation was as you just saw, Ling's body. But his personality wasn't the same as the old Greed, and neither were his goals. He now wanted to rule the world, (or so he claimed) but he really just wanted friends. He was a little more serious, he had Ling to talk to and balance him out. He still joked a bit, but mostly he was focused and less playful, he was also very loyal to his friends, especially Ling. He cared immensely about his comrades and did everything to help them and protect them. Gluttony was a short, fat guy with tiny feet, large arms, a big nose and no hair. He was somewhat innocent. He just did whatever he was told to. He didn't really have a goal. Just to help father accomplish his goal, and to eat. He wasn't very bright, but he was cheerful and loyal. Sins: Greed is wanting everything for yourself. Greed says "I see that really cool new cell phone. But I want all the cell phones. Each make and model, and every single unit of it ever made." While Gluttony is just being a pig, eating everything. I guess you could say Gluttony wants all the food for himself. So Gluttony=Food. Greed=Literally everything ever created. Hope that helped. 😁

Michael Nolan XD Haha, yeah you are right. Greed you want everything. Nobody needs to own everything in the world, (including other people) but Greed wants to. Gluttony just wants to eat, Gluttony is an insatiable appetite. That no matter how much you eat, you are still hungry. So you keep eating and eating, you want all the food because you are never full. So with Gluttony it's kind of a grey area. If you go hungry, you will die, but if you are eating so you know you arent going to starve to death and you are just always hungry, you could say "Well, I'm not going to die, I ate something." But you could also say "I ate something but I'm still hungry, being hungry is distracting and uncomfortable. Maybe I'm still hungry because I have burned off all the calories already." It really leans more toward desire as well, but it could be spurred by a need.
