72-27=45. Sounds about right. Or better still 72+27/2=49.5 This is why there should not be a No Fault Divorce requiring spousal support/alimony. If you just want out, you get out with your share of marital assets and that is it. Child support should also reduce in the No Fault divorce where the petitioner is the one who gets primary custody. Now if you have a spouse that commits actual abuse or infidelity then the court can be your oyster but for you "I am not happy any more" women, go be happy, but not on the mans back for years (or forever).

That's amazing and I believe child support should be there from both parents but no one should support their spouse after divorce unless one of them was abusive and did something wrong
@2Fast4Mellow19 күн бұрын
Spousal support is a complex topic and not always straightforward. It often depends on how long the marriage lasted and what sacrifices were made, particularly by the woman. Many women put their careers on hold to stay home and raise children, allowing their husbands to work full-time. It's funny how some people say that child support should come from both parents, but shouldn't that be the case *before* the divorce too? Seriously, how many men do you know who stay home two days a week to help with the kids, so their spouse can also build a career? As a way to balance this inequality, many states award the spouse a half of the other’s assets. She claims that after many years of working, he became the CEO. But would he have gotten that position if he had only been able to work 24 hours a week for say the last 10 years? On the other hand, she also mentioned that she’s uneducated, which might be a factor contributing to her moving toward the poverty line. Instead of complaining, she should focus on educating herself and finding a better job. Not only is there night school, but also KZbin and other website that help build new skills The world is changing, and she need to keep up. Indeed stop watching TV, start working on yourself and find a better job!
@thystaff74219 күн бұрын
Child support shouldn't exist either. Extortion is extortion no matter who enforces it.
@raytracer572619 күн бұрын
@@2Fast4Mellow Women "putting career on hold " is a BS excuse. She's uneducated, which means that she never had any potential for a career in the first place. She enjoyed much better standard of life being a housewife, then she would have pursuing a career. Also, it implies that men make no sacrifices for a family, which is simply not true! At least 90% of his income goes to the family. I could argue that the money, time and energy that went into supporting HER and HER children could have been spent to acquire more wealth or enjoying life. See how this hypothetical reasoning of what ifs goes both ways. Most women choose to have kids and stay home willingly. If this puts her in a weak position, then don't get married and don't have kids. Every choice has consequences.

It's 2024, why is spousal support still a thing? 100 or so years ago when woman couldn't work or hold jobs it might have made sense that a man divorcing a woman still had to support her, but those days are long long long gone. The marriage is over, the deed is done. Neither party owes the other anything
@gorrazin798319 күн бұрын
I can understand spousal support if the person was staying at home and was doing all the homes duties. Only for a limited time however. Three or four months at most. Receiving spousal support for two years is ridiculous! I could see that there are *maybe* circumstances that could warrant more support, but I would think that such circumstances would be rare.
@thystaff74219 күн бұрын
100 years ago spousal support was only awarded if the husband had an affair. If the wife had an affair or wanted to shop for another husband she got nothing. The no fault divorce law really screwed things up, which automatically makes men at fault regardless of the situation. Laws regarding wealth transfer shouldn't exist, they're unconstitutional.
