This doesn't sound like a marriage that will last if financial resentment is starting already. Sister sounds like she doesn't understand financial reality. Sister better hope her marriage lasts cuz it sounds like she never developed the skills to live in the real world. Wonder if "budget" is even a word in her vocabulary. In some ways, it would be nice to live that way. Realistically though, having enough to live comfortably with no concerns of being able to retire without worry; that's all anyone really needs. Anything more is just excess & would be better served helping others. If human nature were actually like that, the world would be a much better place.

She should have made it clear that her husband had to get another job when they moved instead of just resigning. The tickets were no karma, the car cost way more. I'm surprised the niece didn't turn her nose up at the Carolla.
@jaguar.dragon Жыл бұрын
Sounds like that was the car she chose. I wondered y the sister didn't just buy the car for her daughter herself. I had the same thought of clarifying he was expected to work too. Mind u, if there is already $ resentment in the marriage, I can see divorce sooner rather than later.. Without his spending attitude changing, there is no hope regardless of the love. $ issues have probably ended more marriages than even infidelity. Sometimes counseling can fix infidelity, but nothing besides eliminating the $ problems can stop the constant fighting. These days, it's near impossible to find a solution to that issue.

This is an infuriating story.. OP's husband was dumb to push for the wedding they couldn't afford, spoil his niece in law, and resign from his job when they have a baby on the way. OP is a fool for letting her husband take advantage of her financially, let her niece take advantage of her financially, not tell her sister about the reality of her situation, and then go and give her niece a car. The sister and niece are jerks for expecting a car, and getting mad when the gift wasn't a car. The whole situation is stupid and the only thing causing it is pride.

This had to be one the the stupidest stories. Op was the a-hole first of all for marrying her husband. When he turned down “FREE” money for the wedding and made Op go into debt (because he paid NOTHING) so he can look like he was someone he wasn’t was 🚩 #1 and then allowing your niece to visit and he spend YOUR money to appease & entertain her was 🚩#2 and prior to Op’s sister asking for the car she had plenty of opportunity to come clean & let them know that they didn’t have money like that but instead bought a gift she knew her spoiled niece wouldn’t want. At that point she should have come clean, deal with the fall out and keep it moving but instead decided to do something petty and childish and to me not deserved as she already was looking like the bad guy for not buying the car in the first place but now she’s made herself look like a total a-hole. All to protect the reputation of a man!!

Seems like she made sure to burn all bridges with her family b4 she left. If op ever decides to try & repair the relationship with her sister & family, she just made it 10x worse for herself. Unless the husband changes his spending habits, I don't see the marriage lasting too long either. Seems to me that op just guaranteed she will have no one there for her to provide emotional support when she will need it most. Revenge is gratifying in the moment & is sometimes deservedly dished out. This one seems like a petty stunt that will backfire on her in future. I may be wrong. For her sake, I hope I am.

The things that stood out to me were that she paid off their extensive wedding debt (which would have been $1,000's) in 3 months! Yup! 3 months! Who can afford to pay off a loan that fast? Whilst also hosting her niece with her very expensive tastes and nightly meals out - which she stated her husband paid for, whilst also stating he didn't contribute to paying for the wedding. Then she added that she spent hours prepping and cooking food that they didn't appreciate - which doesn't equate to eating out every night. And why, after Clark refusing financial help with their wedding, was he happily accepting her sister paying for their anniversary, when he didn't want to appear "poor." Something doesn't add up here. She said at the beginning that she's well off and in a good job with a great salary, and her expectations of men were high. She "settled" with Clark because he wasn't rich (like her sister's husband), but she wanted to get married and he had a good heart. She also stated later that he was a top car salesman, meaning he should be earning a lot of commission on top of his wage. Already, they both sound like they're earning well above most people's average incomes. Are they really that badly off? Is Clark's spending that much out of control? Or is that an excuse to raise her financial status above his? Or do they just not want to pay for a car.. because they're expecting a baby and they need the money for all the luxuries it'll need - to grow up just like it's cousin. I'm not saying her sister and niece should expect them to buy a car, and it's not cool how they handled the disappointment, but why, if they're struggling, hasn't she come clean to her sister. She had the opportunity in private when her sister first broached the car birthday gift. It's despicable that Clark avoided her niece rather than face her and say they couldn't get her a car though. It's no wonder she was still expecting one as NEITHER of them said otherwise. And honestly, it wasn't just on Clark to say no, especially if she would be paying for it. But he didn't go to the party to support his wife, and instead left her to handle the fallout. Just also want to add these comments she made.. "So what if my husband and I had the resources to get their daughter a car!" "Whose business was it if we choose not to?" I mean, she went out and bought a new car eventually, and she paid in FULL. Still not adding up!! And.. hold on.. she got a job promotion and relocation, and TOLD her husband she was taking it because it was more money and better for her. And it was up to him if he followed or not! This whole story reeks of gaslighting and manipulation, and I feel sorry for Clark, honestly.

Then she hits the wall at 30. Oops! So she settles for Mr. Nice Guy. Who lives above his means, whereas she is a saver, he is a spender. Oops! Then, the car fiasco. Instead of telling the sister "There's no WAY we can afford to buy your niece a car!" (And disclosing that the husband has no money but basks in the TRAPPINGS of wealth), she shows up for the birthday with the iPhone. And besides, why didn't she keep their finances separate so that the husband can't raid her savings? AND finally, she spends $xx for the car, when the niece was so haughty? I don't care if the car was in Hoc, she still spent multiple cash $$ to prove some kind of point?? Yeah, I call BS on all of it. If it's true, then well, she got the husband she deserved.

ESH!!!!😡 The sister and niece are spoiled/entitled, OP husband is living too far out of his means, and OP is enabling everything from everyone. OP could have stopped it all before the drama happened. OP could have told the TRUTH about her husband and financial issues!!!! OP could have told the sister/niece the word NO!!!!! OP literally sat back and did/said nothing!!!! Now OP's upset about all this drama?!?!?🙄😒 SERIOUSLY!?!?!?! SHE LET IT HAPPEN & DID NOTHING TO STOP IT!!!!!!!😡

Stop apologizing to these people they’re entitled, spoiled, etc.

Now as far as the niece being ungrateful for the iPhone13 and slandering her aunt. It's crazy how people act entitled but don't want to be grateful. OP shouldn't have bought her niece nothing but just cut them off a walked away

The phone was a slap in the face think about it. For the average family it's a huge present but for the rich it's a pittance. If in your family the average present was about $10 and you had just paid for a party for a close family member and your child asked for $20 present. Wouldn't you feel disrespected if they showed up with a 10c gift. Remember they don't know that OP is living above her means they don't know she is only rich not super rich. Your trying to compare the lives of normal people to the ultra wealthy and op is wealthy because I don't know anyone that can afford to by a new car spite present.

@@cheekyftoro8962 actually I'm not comparing shit I was making a statement. I don't expect gifts I buy whatever I want for myself . Just the fact that she was ungrateful was it for me. To ask anyone to buy a $25,000 car is total bs to me I wish a mofo would. I can actually afford to buy why tf would I for an ungrateful brat? Life is too short for ungrateful toxic ass people.

@@cheekyftoro8962 actually you have it wrong Hun I'm not mad at all. Their status doesn't make me mad like I said I can actually afford to buy a $25,000 car as a gift I actually just bought my two sons cars. I stand by what I said if a person can't appreciate a gift then they're ungrateful period. Now you can say whatever you want Hun because I'm not mad you're trying to put words in my mouth I see what type of person you are so have a good day and a nice life. Because honestly you don't and you never will know me. I'm the one that will congratulate and uplift people not try to bring them down like you do good day.

If her sister and husband was so rich, whiy couldn't they buy their daughter a car. OP needs to leave her husband I bet when they move he will not look for another job, and drain her bank account.

I enjoy listening to ur stories so much that I've gone back months to listen to more. The only suggestion I have is that for any story that has additional updates later, u put links to the following ones in them. I've missed some due to titles being different etc. I'm not sure if it's possible or not, but if it is I hope u add them. I really like the stories which have full updates & closure. I get so frustrated with cliff hangers that I never even watch the last episode of a tv show season until the next season is released. Most times I won't even watch shows until they're in the 3rd or 4th season for this reason. Usually by then, they've quit doing it so I can enjoy it without frustration. Please keep the stories coming. Cheers

Not just woman, don't forget the husband's. Hell yes Giselle and her daughters behavior is idiotic but her sister is not better

Yeah, all of the people in this story are equally fiscally irresponsible by a long shot.

@@xCitizenPMx In some way, I get Gisele's side more. They earn s good amount of Money and OP grudgingly admitted that they helped her before. Most likely in pretty large amounts. Now Giselle thinks they are rich too so she expects expensive gifts too. Yeah it's entitled behavior but I get it. OP is vain, jealous and petty. She might not the one wanted play the part as rich but certainly played her part and enjoyed when the wind was blowing to her favour. She is sulky and petty because now it isn't.

Agree ESH, husband and extended family for obvious reasons, but Op sucks for going along with her husband's grandstanding, knowing they didn't have money like that, paying off his loan by herself without ever making him put in a dime, and she said herself she had to "lower her standards" when she hit 30, so concerned about keeping up appearances because of her ego, she got what she paid for i guess
