And from what I understand, the grammar of the Portuguese language is influenced by the Greek language as well. @@greeklessonsonlinevideos

Wonderful bite-sized lessons, I am having a blast with your playlist. In 2 years I am planning to study in Greece for my Erasmus destination and I feel I'll know quite a bit by then with your videos.

All of a sudden I understand, just after 2 lessons some of the things I was seeing in some of the apps that didn't make any sense. Thank you for your time and effort.

Nice handwriting. I 'm the beginner and so happy to find your lesson. It helps me a lot to study the Greek language. I hope someday I can speak your language. I love the greek alphabet since I was a student and saw it on any subject. For me, it's so cute and fascinating. Blessings.

Absolutely love your videos! I've seen many others but yours are by far the best. Content is well laid out, organized, slow, and your delivery of it all is memorable which makes the learning easy. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and for all the work you do to put this all together. It's all SOOOOO appreciated!

Πολύ καλό μάθημα :))) The writing of ζ, ξ and ς I was most curious about. Thanks!
@greeklessonsonlinevideos6 жыл бұрын
Ευχαριστώ! You should always start writing from the top! ζ -> looks like the English -j with a line on the top ς -> you can do it exactly like the English -s ξ -> it is like the greek -ε with a small tale

Thank you - I enjoyed that. I love writing in Greek however watching you write the z and x's ( not x=h) has helped. I also am intrigued how you can almost work out where someone is from if not a native from England writing in English. I wondered if you can tell the same when you see someone's writing in Greek?
@greeklessonsonlinevideos5 жыл бұрын
Thank you Claire! The truth is that you cannot tell from the writing if someone is a native or not.. at least I cannot! I have not native students that have such an amazing handwriting that you could swear that they are natives!

@@greeklessonsonlinevideos Very interesting. I first went to Ioannina to classes but it was so difficult. Even though I am English, I did not understand the grammar terms and I think all of the students from other countries did and it made me feel very stupid and meant it took me weeks until what I guess should be simple terms like Definite Article and Indefinite Article meant. I was so frustrated. Nominative, accusative etc. I nearly went mad! I am now trying again and have many books but have just found your tutorials on line and they are the best ever! I can't wait to learn more. I am probably just past beginner but can't wait to get round to practise speaking Greek as soon as I can as, of course, that is the best way to learn and get corrected. Any excuse to go to the most wonderful country in the world! Also, it is very hard to find workbooks and when you can they are so expensive so I need to find some online - or perhaps you could devise some - all your viewers and students would happily pay you for them I am most certain - perhaps with audio tests as well. I am not sure - do you already have a website? You have a lovely way of teaching. I can't compliment you enough!

For an English speaker accusative, genitive, plural and the articles can be challenging since they don't exist at all in english. I am preparing a grammar book for the intermediate level at the moment. For the A1 and A2 level I use mostly other books. Which ones did you try? I could help you choose!

Hello :3 I was wondering why some letter have more than one way of writing them? Is it just variations or maybe cursive?
@greeklessonsonlinevideos5 жыл бұрын
I would say that's because there are different hand writings..the letters ξ, λ, κ, ρ have more than one or two ways to write them. It is up to you which one you will choose. The variation has to do with calligraphy too, like the letter π. Hope that helps!

*sigh* me an a Greek writing app are at war. It thinks I write backwards. So I write “ correctly “ and it essentially called me retarded an thought I wrote in Arabic. Lol. So me an my left handed guitar are going to beat up a right handed banjouki after playing some A7X and breaking its precious lil’ strings. I’m going to write my Greek letters down-to- up, right-to-left and eat a GY-ro (JAI-roh) from arbys, now.

What a different pronounciation between the modern and the ancient Greek studied during my youth! ...and not only about pronounciation: I still remember the present tense of είναι ...in its ancient form ειμί - ει - εστί - εστον - εστόν - εσμέν - εστέ - εισάν, completely unuseful in modern Greek...
