Panthir 67 The most fiercest fight for resistance was definitely the Soviet fight. Although it doesn’t technically look like a resistance like the French and Greek wars did, Stalingrad and Leningrad saw by far some of the most fiercest fighting in human history.

@@hellenicstrategist7561 Read Woodhouse. He was an English operative, working with the Antartes hand-in-hand. Wrote about the experience after the war called The Struggle for Greece. Writes about working with the Antartes, blowing up bridges, running ambushes, over-running Germans. Described how George Papandreou, Andreas’ father, tricked the Antartes to surrender their weapons and then mercilessly go after the Antartes, causing the Greek Civil War, all on Churchill’s bidding. To Papandreou’s credit he was repulsed by Churchill’s decision to shoot into a crowd of peaceful demonstrators, Athens, December. Its all in his book written on personal experience. Fact: Greece was Communist in 1944-1945, and Western Allies and Communist Greeks came to fight each other at the end of the war, if the Allies did not land in Greece, the Socialist Greek Partisans would have taken power as they did in Yugoslavia, and would be supported by the USSR, being an even more violent enemy against Turkey, it could be a Soviet satellite or neutral state, in 1992 the communist regime would have collapsed, and Greece would have entered the EU and NATO in the 2000s.
@outerspace7391 Жыл бұрын
No, that wouldn't have happened. The Soviet Union had already recognized Greece as part of Britain's sphere of influence way before the end of the war. Soviet troops retreated from occupied Greek Thrace willingly, unlike in Manchuria where the USSR gave them to the CCP. This is also the reason no western support was given to Hungary during its revolution in the 50's. Russia and America respected each other's zones unless they went to all-out war (in that case it would've been free game I guess) For your proposed alternative scenario to happen, you'd have to think of an alternative Yalta conference, where in this timeline the big three take different decisions. If the western allies were to agree handing up Greece to Russia, Britain would ask something else in return, and realistically, I don't see anything else they'd agree with. So yea, regardless of who won the civil war, Britain and Russia had made their plans clear and wouldn't change them unless Britain lost militarily, which was also unlikely considering Yugoslavia was the only real support EAM was provided with.
