Tom Lester whose character was Eb Dawson in this TV series got the part with no previous acting experience, after over 500 other actors with experience, tried out for the part, and did not get it! I personally met Alvy Moore, in 1994, whose character was Hank Kimble in the TV show. I met him just 3 years before he died in 1997. He was a very fine gentleman.

Tom Lester died on April 20, 2020. He was the last surviving regular cast member.

@@ccbsnyc Yep, you are right about that. He was good friends with Eddie Albert (Mr. Douglas.) In the late 1970's I would do work in Eddie Albert's back yard. I never once met him, or saw him, but he did have a huge greenhouse, growing plants, so I guess that was the real farmer in him!

Being raised on a farm Tom Lester was the only audition who had experience of milking a cow.

The way that Lisa described her misunderstanding about how chicken noodle soup is made could be considered the ultimate dad joke today. Lol.

the4000class if I remember correctly the last clip with the champagne is from season 2 and I have no idea what season the shpagehtti is from, but my guess is that it’s a later season

Interestingly, while Eva was Hungarian she pronounced some words with a clear and obvious German accent--because--she sounded like all my older relatives who spoke English the same way.

When "Alivah" was a NYC atty and they lived in the penthouse Lisa must have had a personal chef. Didn't Swiss finishing schools teach young women to cook some basic but sophisticated dishes for their future roles as hostesses? It was more than just table settings and manners and small talk skills.

It was a tv show. It wasn’t real.

I never heard her say she had a chef, but more than once Lisa mentions that when they lived in New York, she didn’t have to cook.

@@robsemail ....unless they ate out all the time. Lisa was totally and hilariously incompetent in the kitchen, but even the most pampered young European women of her age group knew something about basic culinary matters.
