Superb bush crafting. I've learned how to step out of the shop and make a bow and arrows in the deep woods. This is a must watch even for an experienced bowyer. Thanks Walter.

This is a blunt arrow that the natives used on small game. This video I taught how to make a quick seasoned arrow from a green shaft. If one desires a head on the shaft, then it needs to be put on in aliegnment with the shaft. If the point is even slightly misaligned that when the shaft is spun the tip wobbles out of exact aliegnment, the arrow will wobble in flight. Understand?

rosa floribunda makes real nice arrow shafts. also arrowwood, and even buckthorn alder. atleast those are the ones that grow around me. I quite like the rosa floribunda. lot of prickers though thats for sure. a nice thing also is they all have piths, which make notching and attaching a point pretty easy compared to a solid wood shaft. plus these shafts are easy to bend into straightness even when dry.

I like your clips, Walter, first I thought : can he tell you anything new ? You are performing the total indigen way of making good products and that is what thrills me - regards from Bavaria / Germany

I probably will never make an arrow while camping but I had to watch the whole thing. Then again, before this pandemic ends maybe I should make a bow and arrow just because. We should all be prepared for post pandemic show and tell. Crows are all over around here and always dropping their feathers...

Good tutorial sir. I'm not sure what state you hail from, maybe Washington, I have access to a lot of river cane. If you would like I can send you some.

But what about glue, no one ever goes into detail about glue used 1000 years ago, if they had glue.........

I don't think he showed it in the video but you can use a knife to carve a sharp edge where the head goes and then heat it over a fire.
