Years ago my Sheriff's Dept. traded in 5 MP5's for a number of Colt M4's for our tactical Team. When they deal was done, the dealer sent a crew to our dept. There, they broke out a portable work bench with a vice. They took a Sawzall to all of the MP 5's & cut them apart simply to collect the parts saying they get more for the parts to keep older guns running than for what they could sell the used guns for. I wanted to cry.

Agree! Unfortunately this is the standard for most older HK guns now. Demill and sale as parts kits on the open market. ATF requires three separate saw cuts(pieces) through the receiver. Then it's just a parts kit now, but worth about $1700-$2000. A used, complete mp5 is only transferable to another LE agency or an SOT, at a value of around $800-$1200 per mp5. Very few are not demilled for parts, since the parts are more valuable on the civilian market and the mp5 has fallen out of favor for LE agencies. Very sad actually.

I'm 64 as a kid I saw John Wayne in the Green berets with my dad, that's all I wanted to do even to this day I wished I had. My dad wouldn't allow me at 17 to go into anything but the USAF. I was disappointed but he was a tough dad/ golden gloves champ. He raised us tough. I found out years after he died he had 11 medals in WW2 including a bronze star. He didn't want me to go through what he went through. Loved the story line by the guest as I could relate to his childhood as it was mine too.

Mp7 would be a perfect weapon for a tank crewman. But, when I was in, we just ran with the good ole m9, and stored our m4s wherever we could in case of dismount. It was not very practical getting it through a hatch, even with a 14.5 barrel.

Went to the Naval Special Warfare Armorers Course in Crane, Indiana. The MP5 SD is by far my favorite gun I’ve ever shot. Super quiet. Extremely stable. And accurate as hell. I was hitting targets dead center at 100 yards and i swear the metal on metal was louder than the round exiting the barrel

I met with a recently retired DEVGRU (AKA ST6) dude who had spent 20 years as a SEAL. His opinion was that he liked the MP7 overall, but that it had very little "Punch". The mp7 round was designed to punch through soft armor but not make a large wound, which makes sense. He followed up by saying he preferred the Hk416 for the stopping power for the recce team he was on. but IMO the guns are apples to oranges.

I always wondered why the police use this. It’s not a man stopper round, it’s specifically designed for rear echelon troops for amour penetration against soldier’s body amour… so what’s the point? How is this better than using 22lr? If anything 9mm hollow points would be infinitely better than 4.6x30… you’re really going to have to mag dump with such a tiny projectile if you want to stop someone in their tracks

@@famalam943 look up what 4,6x30mm looks like when shot on ballistic gel. It leaves behind absolutely gnarly cavities because of the speed. The weapon is designed for vehicle crews which don't have the space for an assault rifle but need better performance than a pistol round can deliver.

Pretty cool looking, that's half of it! A man after my own heart!!! Aesthetics are everything, why have an ugly gun when you can have a cool gun, they both do the same thing regardless. I've heard people are not a fan of the Vector, but using the BB version, it's ergonomics are so damn nice. The MP7s grip seems slightly chunky and it puts me off a little, where the MP5 has that more typical grip wich seems a lot more comfortable.

I mean... There's a reason why the MP7 is loved by some whereas not liked by some and it's mostly down to logistical reasons. Unlike GBs, SEALs are mostly "infil-exfil" kinda business so they can afford to carry whatever rounds they have with them and then leave the AO. GBs on the other hand have a different operendi. They operate as an "infil and loiter" kinda deal where most of their missions require the operator to infiltrate an enemy location and either loiter around for info long enough and sabotage their operations or build up local forces behind enemy lines. Now when it comes to these kinds of jobs, GB need whatever local resources they can find and when it comes to caliber, no pistol round in the world is as plentiful as 9mm thus for the GBs that have to loiter behind enemy lines be it to "force multiply" or infiltration missions, getting the appropriate resources to use is optimal and for them, most would pick the MP5 cuz even if they're in a firefight and they expended whatever rounds they had, they can just pick up rounds from dead enemies and continue to fight till they're out of the CZ (Combat Zone).

How about an MP-5 in 10mm? I knew an FBI agent years ago that was issued an MP-10, as they called it? He offered to take me shooting and try it out but I never got the chance? I still kick myself over that one.😢

I’ve heard the general rule with the MP7 is “one mag one kill”. The gun just doesn’t have great knockdown power.

@@ipdjbt I’ve been into guns since late 17 years old. What I’m saying is a fact. It comes from people who know guys that used it on people. Watch the 1911 Syndicate video on the MP7. That’s where “one mag one kill” comes from, you uneducated child. Also, are you saying knockdown power isn’t a real thing? I know a lot of fudds misuse the term, but that doesn’t automatically make it not a real thing. Does 2mm Kolibri have “knockdown power”? What about .338 Lapua? .50 BMG?

Ump 45 for the win. I view the mp7 as a unicorn and sure it's cool to have but ballistically I don't see it being much better than an fnp90 or something else

I was a backup on the Beijing Olympic team 9 times i was a 4-H National Champion and 13 times a state champion of Mississippi and I literally killed my first Buck at 10 with a FN FAL and had at my 6th Christmas a CAR-15 out of a Vietnam Colt lower receiver and parts from Shotgun News I have 2 H&K MP5 HD's I love to see people talk about cool guns and what my father had my whole life from someone born in 1986 I hate to even chime in but it's nice to see guns cool again

I’m curious what the combat experience is with the MP7’s round’s effectiveness on target. There’s now been enough police body camera footage of MP7s used against suspects and quite frankly in all the ones I’ve seen they come across as underwhelming and ineffective without multiple individuals mag dumping the target. If anyone has used one, in combat, in a firefight, please chime in.
