If you get his DD214 you can see where and when he served . Then you can research those units. Special Forces have lots of books concerning Vietnam. And Green Berets filled many rolls, SOG , A Camps , Advisory rolls to many different ARVN and Militia forces, some became officers and led conventional infantry units . It’s was very satisfying researching my father , Pop Pop , and other family members. I know for my Pop a small man who served in relentless heavy combat in Europe talking about his friends and the battles seemed helpful and knowing some of what he’d been through made us more proud and understanding of who he was. Cheers man

The scuba images were funny for me. I had SF scuba school and in Vietnam did dive once. The Sergeant Major and I were the only ones certified, so Can Tho sent 2 rigs for us to search for bodies after a couple boats sank in the Bassac River. Two feet deep and you couldn't see your own hand. Six feet deep was total blackness.

My brother was Greenbrae in Vietnam As a bedroom I am very proud to saywhich I am very My brother was a Green Beret in Vietnam. He never talked about it and came home with the worst PTSD I ever witnessed. We were 16 years apart in age and I was just a kid but understood the amount of pain he was going through. I served myself and I understand the commitment you were asked to give. To be away from your family and love ones. To witness the most horrific things in your life and to be asked to be normal when you come back not all are able to do that please support our veterans and absolutely not one of them should be homeless in our country we should be ashamed of our selves because they are

My grandfather was in the green berets. I barely know anything about his time in the war but he told me (and showed me) a knife he made out of ivory, and said the North Vietnamese would hit US soldiers in the face with the butts of their rifles a lot. Also, he told me about his time in Vietnamese villages where he would protect them from the vietcong. He said a lot of them had worms, and the villagers would jump in the river and catch fish in their hands and even their feet. He told me the US soldiers would throw grenades into the water and the villagers were amazed to see the fish come flying out of the water.

Wasn't Green Beret Colonel Floyd James Thompson a draftee? That poor man who has the unfortunate honor of being the longest held US POW in history (8 years and 355 days).
