Guy Guitar Covers By ear? Damn... thats even better! And if anyone wanted a tab, the way you're sitting makes it fairly easy to see the fretting positions 😁 I want to learn the guitar part but as a Bassist I gotta learn the bass line first 😬 good luck with your guitar playing!
@GuyDeclerck6 жыл бұрын
I started the channel because I learned Bang Bang on ear when it was released as a single. It had no use that my face was on there or multiple shots since because other fans who watched it couldn't learn anything from it. So I rebooted my channel, and changed my cam position to make sure, like you say, they see my finger and fret positioning, and my strumming pattern. And thank you, I'll need it!
@KylieGuindon6 жыл бұрын
Guy Guitar Covers at the same time though if you have the skill to play a song like that accurately, you're probably skilled enough to be able to learn a song by ear lol. That's just me though... I usually use Songsterr for tabs but I've taken sheet music to tab songs and I can read sheet music for bass... it really sets the limit for skill in my opinion

Tobi X Hi man! At the time of recording this video, it was barely out, fresh and new. So I learned it by ear and watching fan footage of a version they a few fays before the album got released. It's such a great song, I had the pleasure of seeing this song live in concert 4 times now, blew me away :)
@tobix43746 жыл бұрын
Guy Guitar Covers Well i learned it by watching this video ^^ but learning by ear..WOW...for how long have you been playing then? I guess like 6 years or something?...Up till now i haven't had the pleasure to see GD live :( but must've been incredible...I'm right now in my first year of playing guitar (been playing for like 7 months)..i'm quite proud of myself mastering bends,vibrato scales etc and the Rabea Massaad Solo (type in to YT) in my first year so yh...keep coming back to this vid..it's just fun to watch you play and simultaneously listening to one of my fav GD songs :)
@GuyDeclerck6 жыл бұрын
That's really cool, it's the reason why I have this channel, so other fans can follow how I play it! Pretty much everything is learned with ear, it gives me an idea of the song key, chord progression,... Then I look at fan videos of concerts to see where certain chords are played, stuff like that. Currently 6 years, but I'd say that the first 3 years were nothing else than Green Day, It's only after the 5 years that I got BJA's guitar, and wanted to have my tone as accurate as possible :) I have seen them 8 times so far in 3 countries, best show was Brixton Academy in London 5 years ago for 4900 people! :D It's nice that you're making progression but more importantly that you're proud of it! You definitely should be, I always advice other players to film yourself when you think you can master something, be proud of it! :) And thank you for the kind words man! PS: I love Rabea Massaad (and the solo) and Rob Chapman and the Andertons channel in general (especially Sounds Like.. --) !! :)
@tobix43746 жыл бұрын
Guy Guitar Covers if you want your tone as authentic as it gets you gotta get a 100W Plexi xD would be pretty damn loud but authentic...my dad used to have one but he sold it like 4 years ago...question off topic: what do you think about paramore? Did/do you listen to them? And if u do do you prefer their older or their newer stuff? ^^
@GuyDeclerck6 жыл бұрын
Yeah ofcourse I should then, even a Marshall DSL40 that sounds f*cking loud will do the job :p Since I do all my music work in my room, I can't have a 100W plexi :) Yeah Paramore, there are only a handful bands that I haven't seen live, one of them is Paramore and I would love to go to one of their sets on a festival or something! Wouldn't necessarily go to a concert unless they'd have a support/guest/co-headline band that I really love. I like them, I know their older stuff ofcourse (who doesn't?) But I really enjoyed the new album, I listened to it 2 times (didn't save it in my library or something) and I think that it's a really fresh input in their discography. If you'd listen to their songs on shuffle, you'd get a great variable setlist and that's important for them as for fans I think. I hate to be the guy who says "their older stuff was better" or "First album was best, everything after that is garbage". I like how bands evolve! Ofcourse sometimes it can sound more pop or softer, and I'd listen to it less (for example Muse singles) But in Paramore's case, they knocked it out of the park by completely changing their style & sound, and I can only applaud that! :) Are you a fan or just interested or? :)

Buzzing to find this page mate great covers with the guitar I wanted to see been played! Would you still recommend this (assuming it’s the 2006/2010 run?) would you say these still viable or get the 2023 one?
@GuyDeclerck4 ай бұрын
Recommend this guitar? Absolutely! That run of guitars (2006/2010) had such an amazing pickup, the 'H90' (or P100) which is a double stacked P90. It's still not a humbucker as it tries to remain that punchy P90 sound. But it has more beef and more output. And GOD I LOVED IT! I really don't like playing single coil guitars and I am not a huge fan of P90's either (depends on the guitar). But the sound of this pickup was SO GOOD. Those pickups were only made for that run and the DC in 2012 if I remember right. The newer models have more regular P90s which are also meant to be humcancelling, they definitely sound more thin to me compared to the H90. But I guess the idea of the pickups in the new guitar is to reach the more vintage P90 sound. But man that H90 sounded so great. You could get that punchy Green Day tone by not using too much gain on the amp and it would sound so close! I could talk for hours about that pickup and that guitar, sadly I don't have these anymore since my own band kicked off and I play humbucker Gibsons with a stop-tail. So Gibson LP Juniors aren't in my collection anymore sadly. But I would still absolutely recommend the Gibson BJA LP Jr run from 2006/2010!

I've been confused with picking lately. How do you know when to alternate and in general how to pick and when to pick it up or down? Do you just kind of do it how you're comfortable doing it ? Or is there a way to know how the original picking is?

James Brasher Both, its following the rythm thats in your head, following the drum and with Green Day, you can hear the strumming really good. Mostly for me its following what is comfortable and what sounds accurate enough :)

If you put your gain on 6, your bass on 6, middle on 8 and treble on 9. you might get close to a punchy tone. No idea how you'll put your lead amp settings, think brit combo might be close? or classic? Just make sure you get a punchy tone rather than a distorted one!

Hi! I forgot to reply on our previous convo, sorry about that! I'm sorry but I won't sell it, several small reasons. It's not that I wear it a lot or something. Whatshisname Gosh I did it all by ear.. i don't have a tab and I don't have the time to make one sadly are the ones online not accurate? anyways, if you doubt about a certain part I can explain it!
@bruisedbug8 жыл бұрын
Ah, well I feel your version is way more accurate than the ones online.. Thats awesome
@GuyDeclerck8 жыл бұрын
That's kind of you! I am willing to help you out with certain parts, or make a small tab for a certain part. Hopefully you can see how I play it in the video, I tried to have full focus on my fingers on the frets. Comment any time if you want some details for a certain part!

Hi man! Don't know what your comment says because I can only understand dutch, english and french But if I translate it, it says something like 'well past, cock!" if this is an insult because I haven't posted anything lately (which I assume?) It's because I don't have the time of my full-time job, and I only have 2 days to record. Right now my brother is making videoclips for his band so I handed out my gear, when I receive it back I will continue with my list of covers (+30 Green Day songs) After everything there's a reason dude.

Who the fuck disliked this?

It's a pretty old video, at the time the song/album was just released and I had to learn the song by ear. I felt like I had it 90% right. So there will always be individuals who think 'I should've been more accurate' or 'they can do better' or whatever Sometimes I get replies on this video like "Should've strummed like this" or "Use downstrokes there". None of that is relevant anymore this cover is so old :) I could update it but I'm still happy with this video. but yeah, comes with the channel :) Thanks man!

Have you played a regular LPJ with a P-90 compared to this? I've got exactly the same guitar but it's a 2009 LPJ instead of the BJ edition. Don't see any reason to splash extra cash on the BJ edition. What differences are there?
@GuyDeclerck7 жыл бұрын
Hi! I did play a couple of normal LPJ, as well as the double cut (in my 99 Revolutions & Stay The Night covers). The h-90 is the pick up they use for Billie's signature models, it's a double coil pickup that is only produced for his signature models. It gives you more punch and is closer to a vintage p-90. it also hum-cancelling. It sounds really great, a bit bigger and punchier than a normal p-90. But there's no reason to give extra money for it. Just remember that Billie and Jason use a stock p-90's on their guitars, whether they're old guitars or new, they have normal stock p-90's on it. It's only something Gibson did on the signature models :) It is worth trying one out whenever you get the chance though!

What’s the point of doing a cover when all you hear over it is the original song...:/ don’t get me wrong, I would like this cover, if I could actually hear your guitar over the green day recording.
@GuyDeclerck6 жыл бұрын
Chelsea Metcalfe To me it's clear :) I want it to fit right in the mix, but slightly louder. I do this because I'm constantly making sure that my guitar tone is as close to the tone on the albums and to me it is satisfying to hear it in the mix, and have it stand out slightly I edit my audio using speakers, through my speakers at the time of editing, it was perfect :) There's always a video on my channel that's either louder or toned town in the background song but I don't hear people complaining :) I had this channel and did some covers just for myself, people started to like them so I did more, but I never changed, I dont think I will change something tbh :)

Chelsea Metcalfe if you don't hear his guitar over the original song it means he's doing a good job

There are parts where your strumming is just so robotic and i hate it. But otherwise good job
@GuyDeclerck7 жыл бұрын
iForkSpoons yeah sorry, it was pretty recent after the album, werent any covers and live footage, It must have been an automatic sort of feeling to make sure I don't mess it up, I was really concentrating on the music in my ears to try and make sure I got it correct. Couldve done better but i am happy with the cover
@MartyAllocco7 жыл бұрын
gotcha! no worries, it didn't ruin the video or anything, and your tone is great!
