I just watched the video, then checked out your etsy store. I sure hope that you are just doing this as a hobby, because it seems that you could only be making about $0.15/hr !!! Very nice original works that seem to be awfully low priced. I may have to knock over a liquor store now. Thank you for the great videos.

Thank you Alan, I do not run the Etsy Store, the wife thinks with the defects and all that it only worth that, it's all good and we are not killing anyone trying to sell it . we are still learning this marketing thing as well, if we get what ever she priced it at, we'll be happy with it. the other one sold for probably twice that amount .

Thank you Tom, It need to be sealed well, I've made 4 now and all of them had some form of problems in the resin, You Pastes are great and I hope people are going to you from me.The abrasive paste is a bit more aggressive than the YG, I notice it as the paper towel shreds with yours and not the YG, yours is working better to remove marks and defects, I have not problems using your product and promoting it. I am so jealous of how your brain works. I can probably copy what you do as an artist but I never would have imagined, in a million years, that if I drilled holes, all around the outer edge of a piece of wood and filled those holes with 2 colours of epoxy, that my project would turn out that way....................never, ever would that have happened. AMAZING. I am star struck. Simply beautiful.
@PohlBarnProductions
@PohlBarnProductions 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you Sue... I'll splain it to ya,, I intended to copy someone else's project in a similar fashion, OOOOOOOPSS I drilled the holes to deep, oh well drill em deeper and just go with it, not much thinking at all really. LOL it was a screw up. that turned out Awesome, so as it's said A Happy Little Mistake !
@Val-zj1zz
@Val-zj1zz 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Doug! Love this idea with the holes all around & as someone mentioned opal?! Ooooh now that would be nice, but VERY hard to do.... but then again just the white pearl's with pinches of orange and green pearl mixed in on a darker wood?!! P.S. What if you prepped the holes with a clear resin like they do on those "River tables"? Then no bleeding into the wood and no air bubbles!
@PohlBarnProductions
@PohlBarnProductions 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you Val. I've made 4 of these bowls now, all differently done and I end up with the same issue, I am not sure at all what the problem is. clear resin was a thought but then it might pool at the bottom leaving a clear section in the resin, 5 minute epoxy was a thought but I would have to work really really fast, LOL seems I need to figure it out as all 3 bowls sold this weekend, that's including the red and yellow bowl I made before the flaming flower bowl video.
@mamasimmerplays4702
@mamasimmerplays4702 4 жыл бұрын
The Pohl Barn Productions if the holes are deep enough it wouldn't matter if there's a small puddle of clear resin at the bottom, because that's in the part you turn out. Were these done before you got your vacuum and pressure set-up?

I love that you acknowledge, even with the use of tools, it won't be perfect because you're not perfect! That's a message I tell my 8 year old son all the time; "as long as you try your best/hardest, that's what matters. It can't be perfect because no one can ever be perfect!" We don't use the "practice makes perfect" phrase in our house 😃.

I just want to say that that is awesome. I want to buy me a Lathe. I have never owned one although I have been a wood worker all my life. I came by it honest, My Daddy was a Commercial Fisherman who built his own boats. I built my first boat when I was in my early teens. I am a disabled Veteran, in a wheelchair and disability don't pay very well so it is going to take a long time to save up for a lathe so I figured I would watch every video I can, by every Turner I can, and hopefully learn a few things by the time I am finally able to buy one, in the year 2525. (You ain't as old as me but you look old enough to get the reference to that year and the song.) Anyway, again, your work is amazing. I seriously doubt I will start out trying the resins, I'll try to learn on wood first then maybe someday get the nerve up to try resins. Thank You John, seriously I started off making pens, easy fast project for the most part, then I jumped into resin, there is enough info out there that you can learn most of what you need to know before even going hands on, I'm 55 by the way, YEAH and THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE !!!!!!!!!!!!!! turning isn't that hard, finding someone you can stand to listen to long enough to learn form them is the problem, I watched a lot of turners and only attached myself to a couple of them to learn from, Rod Humphrey's, Mike Waldt,, most talk to much for me and over explain it, resin I learned from Zac Higgin, Nick Zametti Andy Philips and a few others that are no longer making videos, that's just a starting point for ya, you do not have to use who I followed. Again Thank you and Welcome Aboard !!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, so pretty. I think you are your own worst critic Mr. Pohl. Both of those bowls were gorgeous... And any little imperfection just give it the homemade look.. a little class in my opinion. I think it would be beautiful with red and yellow or orangy colors.. Keep up the awesome work.

Thank you Nena, I've done it in Red and Yellow, The Flaming Flower bowl, back when I first started my channel, the video is horrible but the bowl is awesome. I redone the video to explain what I was doing in the first one

Perfectly inperfect, I love it. We start with a round world but soon our parents teach us to be a squaremen. All the real feelings are stored in our brains untill you get a burnout situation and suddenly round is important and life saving. Thanks again makes me want to creat again. 🤔

When my daughter showed me how to find your shop. I all but choked at the price. Dude it's worth so much more but at $ 75. My daughter asked if I wanted the only one left for Christmas and yes yes but you only have one so I'm hoping you bless us with some more of these babies. Number them and I hoping to get one for Christmas. The blue and green is breath taking. I would like one with the holes closer together. But please don't raise the prices till I can get one. I can't do much being so sick but I can see beauty like anyone else.

Hello, I just discovered your amazing channel. I watch with my 12 year old son and we are blown away by your talent. My son now wants to switch out of pottery class in to wood working class....Jr. High. I told him it’s a good start. 😉 And while I love every piece I’ve seen so far, I have have to say that part of the charm of your videos is your sense of humor. I crack up that you crack yourself up! 😁 Thanks for the videos!

This is wonderful and it doesn't matter what problems you had. Perfect it and produce MORE since this is extremely sellable. I'm in love with this. At least $300 -$500 minimum. I can't afford it but lots of people can
