This is my jam!!! This should've been in Sonic Generations - period! This remix sounds like the level Sonic 2 for Game Gear & opening theme for Sonic CD combined together. It is epic all the way, one of the best remixes of this Sonic on KZbin. NicoCW you need to make a comeback with these remixes & start doing more cuz you had a lot of this remixes on point & my speakers were enjoying the blessings of these remixes blastin' thru!

8-bit Sonic 2 is way better on the Master System, because you can actually see where you're going. The Game Gear makes it seem pretty laughable, but with the problem of the tiny screen fixed, it's actually a pretty great game. It's certainly decent enough that the first boss is _reasonable_ on the Master System.

Rhys Superdude Technically, the whole project was just Sonic 2; that got sent off to the US, while the time travel concept stayed and got fleshed out into CD. The story was gonna involve time travel, limited to level transitions; you couldn't actively move between eras. The original outline had you start off in the Present, then a Medieval era, as Eggman starts messing around with the timeline, leading to a Bad Present and Bad Future, in which you'd travel further into the Past to find a temple (Hidden Place) with the means to stop Eggman (Super Sonic). The industrial zones were originally part of the bad future, and multiple zones occupied the same space, albeit in different eras, e.g. Green Hill (Emerald in final), Hilltop (Past), Dust Hill (Bad Present; cut Desert level; replaced with Mystic Caves (itself called Rock World in the concept maps)), and Chemical Plant (Bad Future). Come to think of it, Green Hill in Forces kinda revisits that whole desertification concept...
