Thanks for a really good video. I have never kept a GTP, but when I was a teenager I successfully kept an amazon basin emerald tree boa, which is generally regarded as one of the most delicate snakes. I saw a KZbin video a while ago on this amazing guy who keeps GTPs in very large outdoor enclosures. He has a lot of these snakes, and has studied them for a long time. Juveniles live close to the ground, which explains the ontogenic colour change. Adults stay high in the canopy during the day, but come down to very low lying branches when they want to feed at night. For this reason, a water dish at high level may well be uneccesary. It might be good to have branches close to the ground, with plenty of artificial foliage, and to liberally spray this just before dark. You might find that your snake takes water from the drops on the leaves. For these snakes, the more height, the better: because they come down to the ground at night when hungry, extra height will give them more exercise.

I'm 2 years late. But the individual who keeps these animals in outdoor enclosures lives in Australia. The natural habitat for one local of GTP. The is why they thrive there. Second, Adult GTP's don't stay high in the canopy. They primarily stay at love lying branches and move more horizontal than vertical.

How do you dm on KZbin? It's easy to do by yourself. Different humitity and heating depending on where you live. But "step by step" building a Rainforrest terrarium I can help.

These snakes get a slightly greater workout in the wild. Finding ways of getting your gtp to move in captivity (without stressing it out) is very beneficial when it comes to defecation, hydration and digestion. In captivity they dont need to move all that much because they're safe... but in the wild it's a completely different story. Most people think they're a display only snake - I agree and disagree. If your gtp is handleable and relatively tame you should give it a workout every so often.

Do GTPs have to be handled? Can you just make all perches removable and just take them out on a perch for deep cleans, body checks, etc?
@joe_phelan5 жыл бұрын
Yes, they don't need to be handled

If you really don’t want to handle them that bad, perhaps you should think about a different snake.

how are you providing the heat source? I have a bp and a nicaraguan boa and am only used to undertank heat pads. and where exactly are you providing the heat sources? since they perch on the top of the terrarium, the top either has to be cool/hot and vice versa. so maybe you’re just using ceramic heat emitters? idk

No need for a perch water source. Let them exercise to get their own water. Also it’s fine to spray your snake. In the wild they don’t have umbrellas.

hey i m thinking about getting a gtp or 2 - if at all in half a year or a year so i still have ALOT of time to get more knowledge but i was thinking that like an enclosure thats quit big (like: 2 meters high, 1,5meters wide and like 1meter deep-"panorama") but is that too big for 2 green tree pyhtons? or can an enclosure even be too big for snakes? especially "big" snakes like green tree pythons? And i was planning on getting 2 young snakes (probably 2 female)- would it be alright to put small and big boughs in it? or would the small snake maybe hurt himself if it choices a bigger bough? i read that it could damage their spine when they are still developing beside like i m not that knowledgeable yet about snakes and specially gtp's but that enclosure looks somehow small no? like 2 boughs and like 5 leaves and thats it 0.0

I can’t comment on this, as I only work with Ball Pythons, boas, n smaller snakes, and I’m not trying to be malicious at all but.. isn’t this a bit.. boring? Like the tank is just completely white with only a couple fake plastic plants.. N a small tub as a water bowl. I always make naturalistic tanks and try and make them as natural as possible,

@rdm01086 жыл бұрын
@@joe_phelan agreed. From my experience, gtps fare much better in a consistent and simple enclosure. Also, my gtp is extremely tame and handleable for long periods without any ill effects. This means I need a simple enclosure where perches are easily removed to have access to the snake without disturbing his entire environment. If mine was aggressive I'd probably opt for a more complex and visibly pleasing enclosure and just leave it alone. But I got lucky with a very tame gtp.
