I have watched a program about planting trees and they recommended removing plastic name tags from the tree trunks as they can strangle the trunk as they thicken, I hope you don't mind me saying.

I have 2 peach trees one 4 years and the other 2 years old, we had a storm with high winds while they were in bloom and we lost all the flowers, hopefully we will get peaches next year.😢Pear is on my list for this year. Fruit trees do need a lot of water especially the first year and pruning is important for tree health and fruit production, I would recommend some how to videos on you tube as peach and apple trees are pruned differently.😉There is nothing like fresh fruit from your own yard.

I'm glad to see you planted more than just apple trees. I don't understand homesteaders who have 10 apple trees and no other fruit trees. Do they think they are going to be able to eat that many apples? They say it's for thier own use. But anyway, I see you like other fruits too. Sorry you had some of last years trees die. They do like big drinks once a week for at least the whole first year. But they don't like wet feet. I think you are doing great 👍!

An old farmers trick for the strawberries is to find some strawberry sized rocks and paint them red. Place them near the bushes and the local birds will come peck at them and decide they don’t want them. When the strawberries start to ripen they won’t be drawn to them as much

Coming from an old gardener, who had a father who was a long time orchard man, fruit trees or most trees need quite a bit of water their first year to develop roots etc.

I really love ❤️ how you two have been doing one thing at a time instead of juggling everything at once and not getting things done. At my previous home, I was all over the place and had so many projects at different stages. It was truly overwhelming at times. With my new home, I am trying a different approach of tackling one job at a time. It's satisfying to see that I can actually accomplish something and then move to the next thing on the list. Keep up the great work. I love ❤️ seeing 👀 each of your projects. You two are an inspiration ✨️.

One thing that will help you a Lot in your orchard, is to Heavily mulch around your fruit trees with bark mulch or old straw etc. It helps retain moisture, holds down weed pressure and fosters worms and other beneficial insects. You can also plant herbs like Comfrey and mint under your fruit trees.

I’m so glad you didn’t lose too many of the original fruit trees you planted. My grandfather planted 4 pecan trees in his backyard probably before I was born. He planted one in each corner of the yard. I’m 62 now. Those trees got so big no light was reaching the yard and it was all practically moss and some sort of fungus on the ground. My dad sold that house several years ago. It was a big shock when we started having to buy pecans. You’ll be happy with pecan trees but don’t plant them very close to any other tree.

You can get "water collars" to put around your trees that you fill with water and they slowly release water to your trees for a few weeks! They kind of look like neck pillows you use when you sit in an airplane seat.( but these you fill with water instead of air)! Don't forget to remove any tags that are around the trunk to avoid strangling as the tree grows. Blueberries like acid mulch. (like pine needles and pine bark) Looking good! God Bless! ( NEEM oil is a good all around organic spray fir trees and vegetables, check it out to be sure)!

Have you thought of putting in irrigation? Also when I was younger, my grandfather took grass clippings mixed with compost and 8-10 inches away from the base of the trees, would pile in a ring the mixture to fertilize the trees.

Love all the trees! You guys are doing so well, and the place sure has come a long ways. Back when I was younger, we had 20 acres, 6 kids, 3 horses, 10 geese, 3 goats, 3 dogs, and to many cats! We also started a little worm bed, so we could have fishing worms, and the best fertilizer on earth. They ate all the organic food waste, manures, paper plates, napkins, actually anything that once lived, and had died. Just dont feed dairy, meat waste. That little worm farm turned into the biggest cash crop of all time, and now I encourage everyone that has the space to look into vermiculture. We were on 20 acres, and the worm herd only took up a 100 x 50 ft area, and would earn us over 10k a mont. Took about 2 years to reach that, but it totally doable with a little time and space.

I had a nice strawberry patch when my granddaughter was little and living here. Everytime I went out there were no berries. One day we went out together and she ran over and picked them and ate them. I asked is this where all my berries went? Yes Momma was the answer. I had her from 14 months so until she was 7 and a half and moved with her dad I was always Momma. Now I'm NaNamomma

We can tell you that the strawberries will do so well in the plant towers!!! We now have ten of these towers, started with three four years ago. Added more every time we had extra money. The strawberries are so big and clean. No bugs and the slugs can't get to them. The tiny tomato plants do very well too. We did the tomatoes last year and we moved the towers in the garage which is heated, and they produced all winter long. We did add some grow lights to help keep them strong and healthy. Did some cuttings and planted another tower this month with tiny tomato plants. The others have green onions, three hot pepper plants and cilantro. We call it the salsa tower lol. Two of the towers are full of moss rose, petunias, baby roses and sweet asylum. We enjoy your videos so much. Love to all and many blessings too.

If you like cherries, I highly recommend bush cherries. I have Carmine Jewel and a Romeo for , just because. This is my third year of harvesting and the bushes are loaded. They should double in size and the crops will be huge. I enjoy going out and grazing them for two to three weeks and then can pit and freeze the rest. These are tart cherries, but when left till deep red, they do sweeten up nicely. These bush cherries can make a nice screen if you desire some privacy. I have four bushes, but I don't need as much as a family of your size might need, so you could have a wonderful wall of mature bushes for pies, smoothies and just plain eating. There are several bush cherry varieties, so you can try 2-4 varieties and have longer harvests and possibly even some different flavors and sweetness. I also have a short dwarf, yes, short, cherry tree. It is similar, but the harvest time is slightly different, so I have an extended harvest of all of them.
