Do you want to learn how the world's most beautiful and most creative planted tank layouts are designed? Meet your instructor, Takayuki Fukada - the Master of Shadows, a double IAPLC Champion from Japan, a mentor to the IAPLC Champion Josh Sim. We were absolutely amazed at how much logic, creativity, and thought goes into planning his aquascapes. We're sure you'll find this Masterclass really inspiring.

I guess this is a matter of perspective. The “how” part of the technical hard scape stuff might seem extremely insightful to people unfamiliar with it; but generally speaking there is a wealth of technique out there and room for innovation- this is not where Fukada-San is particularly unique or where his real strength. The “view point” mind, which Fukada-San really wanted to speak to and dedicated his focus, is the true core of his philosophy and strength as an aquascaper- from our side that’s where Fukada-San devulged the most valuable teaching in this trip. Technique- people who pursue strength will get technique inevitably. You don’t need Fukada for this. Insight is what a real master has.
@GreenAquaShop
@GreenAquaShop 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I agree with Steve here, the more you scape the better you'll be with the technique, you'll invent your own ways. But vision needs to be learned.

After he mentions to try look at a theme for the plants, I googled things like amazon jungle. And in those pictures I notice that overall the plant structures are very similar and in a lot of cases only two plants are the mains that you see throughout the photo (including color tone as well). This video was so beautiful it brought me tears! Your majestic music pushed me over the edge too. My gosh, guys, the work of Takayuki Fukada is simply breathtaking. He is inspired by nature but they are dreamlike too. Fukada's aquascapes are as real as unicorns and mermaids. I do have a question: Competition layouts have gotten so complicated, are simple "Iwagumi" style tanks no longer competitive? For instance, I'm mesmerized when I see photos of original Amano tanks that are made with just a few stones and carpeted pastures. The fish fly over the landscape like birds. It's magical. I'm guessing, however, it's no longer enough in 2020 at the competition level.
@GreenAquaShop
@GreenAquaShop 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I think Iwagumi scapes can win, but they need to be very complicated, with a very sophisticated rockwork. But times are changing fast with these competitions, and the level of sophistication only increases. Thanks for the kind comment.

@@GreenAquaShop Thank you. Wow, you are really holding my hand as I'm exploring here. I'm very grateful. There is so much to learn. Right now I'm just mesmerized by all the beauty but, oh my, I see how complicated the science is too. Also, do competition tanks have to be a certain size? Especially for the grandaddy of competitions, the IALPC competition?
@GreenAquaShop
@GreenAquaShop 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, to have enough details they need to be big enough. But not too big, as that would require too much tech. Generally, many think the best size would be 120x60x45 cm (WDH). Sorry for the metric system.
