Күн бұрын

This is my first attempt at bikepacking. I ride the Greenbrier trail from the southern end to the northern and back in three days. This is day 2, part 2.
The Greenbrier River Trail is a 78-mile former railroad now used for hiking, biking and horseback riding. It is the longest trail of its kind in West Virginia. The trail provides many breathtaking views as it passes through several small towns, crosses 35 bridges, goes through two tunnels and cuts through some of West Virginia’s most remote areas. The Greenbrier River Trail is one of 50 Millennium Legacy Trails in the United States, and was rated one of the top 10 hiking trails in the country by Backpacker Magazine. Part of the Greenbrier River Trail lies within a National Radio Quiet Zone so cell phones do not work.

You picked a great trail for your first bikepacking experience. We really enjoyed our ride out there. And how cool that you go to see a bear!

I try to ride the GRT every other year, but when I can't there for awhile, I enjoy watching videos of others lucky enough to be there. Yours is one of the best I've seen. Excellent videography. Thanks for taking us along.

Nice video! I ran up on a large black bear on a trail in North Carolina about 2 weeks ago. Scared the living daylights out of me. Scared him, too…thankfully he went bounding off in the other direction!

I always wanna see bears, just don’t want a bear encounter! My breaks on this mtn bike was pretty squeaky, lots of critters was running off before I could film Them. Thanks for watching, I really appreciate the feedback on the bike set up, I hope you’ve subscribed and keep up the advice!

I rode the GRT four years ago in July and saw a bear walking around one of the campsites. Later that day I met another bikepacker heading in the opposite direction and he had seen a bear three miles in the other direction.

@TheBane1979 Just ride and record. Around town or a ride in the countryside is fine. Build up a base where people will start following you for bicycling.

For your first bikepacking trip you are doing very well. So what if you have some budget gear. Many of us require balancing gear importance with cost. Onto Ep. 3. And I liked and subscribed. I have a YT channel as well. Good job riding and filming. I am thinking about an out and back last week of February 2024. Starting from Cass and back. Hope I get a weather window...lol 🤣

New subscriber. You may add some trails to our bucket list. Wife and I rode the Greenbrier about the same time your video went out. About eight or 10 miles south of Marlinton, we had a bobcat jumped in front of us within about 6 feet. Also had a lot of fresh bear scat in that general area. Good job on the video. You might take a look at our channel and find some other trails for yourself as well.

@@TheBane1979 the 2 wheel recumbent bikes still have both balanced issues and having to put your feet on the ground. Either Trike or quad is the way to go. I wish I had my Trike ( Catrike Dumont) 40 or even 60 years ago.
